    Lucid Dreaming

This may be a complete shot in the dark...but is anyone here intersted in Lucid Dreaming? I know i heard someone say yaroow was in his 'meet the staff' thread, but anyone else? Lucid dreaming is basically the ability to have a concious mind and realise when you are in a dream so that you can control it and what not.

For all you lucid dreamers this will sound normal but for anyone else thinking "WTF" just go google lucid dreaming.

About myself: Been trying WILD every night for about 2 weeks now but i am still yet to have a lucid dream, im writing in my DJ every time i have a normal dream..my goal is to have a lucid dream and try to fly/float. Anyone else want to share experiences?

Not to sound ignorant, but is lucid dreaming even real? I haven't met anyone who has had a lucid dream, and I never have either. I only read stories on the Internet.

It's real, that's how I lost my virginity.

Jokes aside, I've experienced it. I don't know how many times, but it's probably 3 or so. I can't take control of it long enough, I think I lose focus.

I never bothered to try and control it, it just happens. What I was more interested in was when you're just about to sleep, and you have that feeling like you're free falling.

    Lucid Dreaming

I once had a dream where I knew it was a dream. I told my friend who I was hanging out with in this dream that I wanted to wake up and I instantly woke up. I don't know if that counts but its the closest thing I Have had to a lucid dream.

    Lucid Dreaming

I grew up around my grandmother. (dads side of the family is native american)
She was a big believer in the power of dreams. I had horrible night terrors as a child and her remedy was lucid dreaming, (they call it something different but i can't remember) She would read me a story and tell me if i had a bad dream to close my eyes and dream of something else. The power of suggestion. I also slept with a dream catcher that i still hang in my bedroom to this day. Well after a couple weeks of horrible night terrors, I still remember the dream i had a crazed gorrila was trying to attack me and i hid in a car. The gorrilla started smashing the car and i remember what my grandmother said. So i closed my eyes and when i opened them i was on a beach, just a plain empty beach. I remember their being a breeze it was wierd. After that point any time i had a bad dream id close my eyes in the dream and the bad dream would turn into something else. I havent had a bad dream that i can remember since i was 13 or 14. on a cell phone

    Lucid Dreaming

Lucid Dreaming DOES exist, and been confirmed by scientists.

Lucid Dreaming is essentially the process of you being able to control your own dreams to be able to do, whatever you want. The only limit is your imagination. I first found out about it a few months back, but have only taken and interest and started researching it in the past few weeks.

You can essentially control your dreams and make whatever you want to happen in them. For example you could - fly, have sex with someone, kill a load of people, talk to your subconscious, build something. You can do just about ANYTHING, your only limit is your imagination.

As for learning how to Lucid Dream, for a start anyone can do it. You can do a few things to increase your frequency in which you have them and how vivid they can be:

Reality checks - At a decent number (say 10-20) times a day you would stop and ask yourself "am I dreaming?" and then do something that would show if you were dreaming or not, for example pushing your two fingers through the palm of your other hand. If you get into the habit of doing this, then you'll do it in your dreams too, where you would question your reality and do it there, where you would suddenly realise you were dreaming and become 'aware' of your surrounds.

Dream Journal - You essentially keep a small-medium sized book and write down every time you have a dream what happened in it, did you notice anything unusual, and if you became lucid at any point in the dream.

Binaural Beats / Isochronic Tones - These are essentially brainwave tracks that when you listen to change how your brain works and stuff, so they can make it easier for you to relax, concentrate, think, dream and stuff like that. It's a lot to explain here though. These are most effective with headphones.

Note that you won't be able to master it instantly, though overtime you will get better and better at it. I'm studying it in my own time right now, you can add me on MSN too if you want for any questions or stuff (PM me for it)

Those are three main ones, there's other stuff you can do too, which can make them last longer, lessen the chance of you waking up sooner, . By the way WILD's are considered for advanced lucid dreamers, which is why you might not be having much luck with it.

There's a fair few websites on the net about it -

    http://www.world-of-lucid-dreaming.com/

    http://www.lucidity.com/LucidDreamingFAQ2.html

    (turn your speakers down/mute) http://www.meditation-power.com/

yaroow knows a lot about this too, I'll link him this thread if he has time.

I've tried months and can't even do it alot, only now and then. I've been interested/busy with it for quite a while now. Trying to do certain things in your dreams such as flying is harder then you think. Also you can be high lucid and low, i'm most of the time quite low, it's not as clear as you would hope, practice helps (and so does a dreamdiary and other tricks do). It's nice to get but when i have it it doesn't take long for me to wake up or it's not clear at all.

FYI: you can use certain sound stimulation for lucid dreaming but i suggest staying away from this.

I used to be able to do this when I was young, I believe I was having nightmares and my father told me that I can control the dream as it is my dream and so effectively I did. I remember a flying carpet and spawning a light saber haha. Now'a'days I have no clue if I'm having lucid dreams, I can't remember any of my dreams recently :(

    Lucid Dreaming

Lucid dreaming definitely exists. I had it a few times, but I always get too excited and I wake up. The first time, my lucid dream started by me waking up from my bed, going to get a cup of water (I thought this was real). As I tried to get the water, I couldn't turn on any lights. I tried all the switches in my room, no luck. Then, thats when I said to myself in my dream "Is this a dream?". I put my arms in the air with my fist clenched and tried to fly like superman. Wouldn't you know, I was in the air. I broke through the roof of my house, but unfortunately, I was too excited and it ended there.

Yeah most people just excite or 'shake' themselves awake with excitement. The idea is to stay calm during it. If you feel the dream fading or something just rub your hands together or 'spin' yourself around.

Remembering stuff (including dreams) does get harder as you grow up, although if you have a dream journal then you don't have much trouble with it.

    Lucid Dreaming

my first lucid dream was about the Same except for me to realise it was a dream was looking at my room and being in shock of how weird it was organized. I myself got scared of it feeling so real that i tried to force myself to wake up. Nowadays i mainly try to get more lucid since my lucidity is kinda low.

I've had 1 really vivid dream, and some others where I knew I was dreaming that is a great experience.

The vivid dream happened after I smoked some mugwort the 'dream herb' and it was an entirely different experience than any other dream. It feels real and felt like I was really using my senses. I'de like to have another but i'm not going to start a dream journal or anything :)

I remember all the dreams I have, at least 5 a night. It's kinda scary because usually when I wake up I can only remember 1 dream and then when I start thinking about it something to do with it triggers what my other dreams were about. I haven't tried Lucid dreaming yet but I think I might tonight. Takes a lot of effort though.

A trick to remembering your dream is to stay still when you wake up. I've managed to remember it once or twice with this, it helps. But others time I forget to as I have something else on my mind. Didn't really try again.

Apparently you lose control of your dream easily by becoming too excited (Like your about to get with the girl of your dreams) and you wake up, to avoid things like this your suppose to spin around in your dream and it "Grounds" you in your dream, sort of like a screw spinning back into its place so it cant come out and you wont lose lucidity.

Confession: I havn't been able to remember the slightest thing (I didnt even think i had dreams, even though science says you dream at least 6 times a night) for as long as a month, but a few nights ago i started setting the alarm to wake me up at 4:30 and i will have imedietly been woken up from a regular dream which i can write down in my DJ, then i go back to bed.
