Transferring Rare Names?

Hello,

I have about 5 really rare runescape names and I attempted to transfer one to my other account about 2 weeks ago but as soon as I changed the name twice so I can use the name on my other account it was taken instantly. I didn't tell anyone and was really discreet about it so I don't know what I did wrong.. how can I prevent this from happening again? What are the best methods currently to transfer names safely? I assume it was a snipe bot or something.. anyone got an explanation?

Try transferring the name minutes after an update that should take care of the sniping bots.

 

Tell absolutely NO ONE that you are taking that name. Yes people may have been trying to snipe this name. You shouldn't change name for a second time immediately on the rare name account (there is a 7 day grace period) so hopefully the snipers will give up. Also when you are going to transfer the name you should not go on any social media or be on runescape at all as people may suspect that because you are online that you will be transferring the name soon potentially.

 

The name that got sniped didn't have Last known As so I assume the sniping bot actually registers a new account from the runescape.com website which will be available to use 24/7 regardless of updates.

I actually didn't logon and no-one knew I had or was transferring the name that day but somehow they got it.

 

You should attempt to transfer straight after an update. Also only transfer onto a brand new level 3 as you can set up computers to auto-click the name. Saving you vital time of having to click twice on an account that already has a name.

 

I will try this but unfortunately I want it on my maxed account What is the best method to make it ready to transfer?

 

How long have the names been on their accounts?

You're really better of not transferring if you want to keep them :/
It's next to impossible these days, unless like Cheese toast said, you transfer onto a new account, or one with an offensive name that's been deleted (log into the game after the name's been deleted and use that screen to take the name you're trying to transfer)

I've had these names since 2006 and the name is the same as their logins. I really want it on my maxed account lol :'(

 

Safest way to ensure transfer is to pm me the names you are transferring, and I'll tell all the snipers to knock it off.

Do not do this.

Do not tell a soul these names. If you have had them for so long, you should have a lot less snipers following them than names that have been publicly bought.

TV had a good idea. Change the name of your maxed main to something offensive and get your name deleted. Now you wont be able to play the account until you pick a new name, but you will be able to one click register a new name like you can with a new account. This I would have to say would be the safest way to do it. Still making sure to do it after an update.

 

The problem is as soon as I change the rare name account everyone will see it has been changed and will constantly be trying to get it. Does anyone know once the name gets deleted for being offensive if its just 1 click away for creating a new name or do you have to confirm the changes making the process few more seconds longer?
