Sythe CS Server: 1.6 or GO?

Attention Sythe! We need your input!



Sebastian Vael has kindly offered to fund a server for Sythe, which I'll be managing. The question on my mind is whether to go with 1.6, or Global Offensive. This is where you come in!

I'm looking to get some community input. Of the two, which would you rather see, and would you play on it?
The server will be hosted in Central United States (Texas) most likely, unless majority demands somewhere else.

I've voted 1.6. I'd never played CS before and my friends started playing 1.6 at a LAN and I joined in and loved it, not to mention found it really easy to play. Also it's cheaper than GO (At least on Steam.)

 

The game is cheaper, but the server is the same price. I personally have no preference either way as I own and play both versions, but I wanted to give the community as a whole some input before a decision is made.

 

I think more people own 1.6 then go. Id play ether one tho great idea.

I vote neither, I prefer cs:s as do many others.
Also in terms of population/server activity according to steam and game-monitor/tracker cs1.6 => cs:s > cs:go

Going to be picking up 1.6 the way things are looking. If the server becomes popular and stable enough, I'll personally buy the GO server as well. We'll see how things go with this poll/thread. Will make my decision tonight (It's 7am now, I'll probably decide in 12-16 hours.)


Also, just a bit of an FYI for all.

I will be selling/renting admin slots on the server to those who are active. Fair warning, abuse will not be tolerated and if caught, your permissions will be removed with no refunds. Charging back a payment after an abuse-related permission removal will be viewed as a scam on sythe and will be treated accordingly. If this pans out as I plan, the money earned from these payments will be put towards bigger and better servers, as well as servers for other games.

 

Yeah starting with CS 1.6 is a much better option. It's more accessible for people, and if things really pick up then we should be able to get a CS:GO server going as well. For now just stick with 1.6.

 

I don't like CS, though I do own 1.6 and Source. Though not GO. I guess I could give it a go. Either way I would go with the more popular game.

 

Why not css? Source is leaps better then 1.6

Again, 10,000+ users would disagree. If Source were better, it would be more played. Don't argue with numbers.

 

Ryan, I'm curious, but how much are you going to be charging people for admin positions? Will it be a one time payment, or will it be a monthly fee?

 

Guys, I am leaning towards CS 1.6, let Ryan decide whether or not he finds it better, and whether most of you do, i personally like 1.6 better, and i think most of us would agree with me.

 

It will be monthly, probably $5/month, $10/month MAX. This is obviously to help support the costs of the server(s).

 

1.6, although i plan to get cs:go sometime soon, hopefully i'll be able to buy another game server sometime soon.
