    IT Questions

    Hey Guys,

Well I'm almost finished with school an will be pursuing a career in Engineering after gaining my Bachelor in Science. In terms of IT i've been doing good in school with my lowest being 94% which I'm happy with. My teacher has told me to not be complacent and go ahead as he knows I have the ability to.

So mainly my question is what do you recommend for me to learn? I want to learn some new Programming because learning VB.NET is really boring, also if you could link some places where i could gather resources/help that'd be great. Oh I also have a passion for graphics if that would help your decision in providing help.

    Cheers

I'm not sure how the tertiary education system works in Australia, but depending on your mathematical ability you might want to look into electronic/computer engineering.

Both will require you to cover elements of C/C++. With computer engineering you'll be exposed to a larger set of languages and substantially more programming. Electronic will have a larger focus on modulation, analog systems and provide for a better understanding of electronics as a whole.

Hope this helps, I'm not really sure what links to provide you with - you might want to check out some university websites, they often have descriptions of courses.

I was leaning towards Electronic Engineering, I'm also colourblind though I don't know if that makes any difference? I was told depending on the severity of it some places electrical places wouldn't hire me (Coloured cables). My Maths is fairly good.

Thanks for the input, I'll check out some C/C++

For electronic your main problem would be recognizing resistor values (while studying) and tracing errors in circuits through wires, but honestly a multimeter could solve both of those problems.

In terms of working, it really does depend on the job, but I can't imagine it limiting you too much.
