It doesn't exactly fit the forum itself - it's good for the title page but not for the forum itself.

as an icon you might want to try and remake it in a way that you can incorporate it into the text

 

I mean no offense by this, but this new photoshop layer style text craze is really bad. At least the C4D text looked decent, but layer style text looks really low quality and cheap and I have seen all of these people with these crappy 'premium' sigs that are just a layer style.

It's literally one click with an instant result. It's LQ, choppy, and just super awful. Either find a way to make it smooth and look nice, or try and avoid layer style text altogether.

Pretty much. Haven't had a chance to say it outright, but it really bugs me when people try to use 2D software to emulate a 3D effect for the sole purpose of saying they don't use C4D - or so it seems.

 

The texture on the logo + text make it hard to make out and read. Like Noam already mentioned you have two T's so you should probably take off the one on the text.

 

I personally don't use it for that purpose. I feel like trying to minimize your resources opens a new way of working and develloping new techniques. Even if the outcome isn't great. i learned how to work with the pentool better for the T and multiple new things.

Regardless, you should tell him HOW to improve, you're being extremely off-topic here, and thus your post has been reported.

However; You could try to make a nice bevel and emboss effect yourself, like I have done on my own signature, it gets you a beautiful effect and it really makes it less choppy then Photoshop tends to do when you generate bevel&emboss, however; If you mess around with the smoothing of it, you can get the near-same results. Hand-made is always better though.

Learning new techniques is always good, I was just commenting on this new craze of all of these sigs that people are ordering. I mean 3D is boring as hell, but at least it looks decent. When you work with layer styles you are getting really choppy results because that is just the nature of the beast, if you will. The only way to get really good text through photoshop is through illustration which is more than just applying textures and layer styles. I mean, don't get me wrong, there is place for layer styles but it isn't as focal text. I think you should look into getting a tablet and improving your drawing skills and illustrating your own custom text. I mean you can get some really badass results by just messing around with a tablet. Just keep up your hardwork and try and grow and learn outside of the market. Don't let the market drive you, you drive the market.
