Moving other games section..

Simple thought while browsing sythe.



we go from the community section, to markets, to runescape,to off topic,gfx,guides and support, xbox section then other games.


why not move xbox and other games below the runescape section, so all the gaming discusion are all right there together, i think it would bring more veiw to those section, as i myself don't normal scroll past off topic, it just seems weird how those two discussion areas are all the way at the bottom.


thoughts about why this would be a good or bad?

any reply with just support, or no support, or just leave it how it is will be reported as spam.

The reason why the other game sections are inactive is because it can't be discussed the way runescape can therefor it will stay in it's current condition. This whole site revolves around runescape, that may be the problems, but look at the donation ranks, all runescape related.

 

any game can be discussed like runescape, the runescape crowd just has sythe on a rear naked choke.

 

It could, but there isn't a certain group that comes here just for the other games. They either play runescap and other games, or just here for runescape.

 

i'm here for just other games. i don't play runescape.



which is why these sections need more exsposure.

would also like to add, these sections get little community invovlement other sections have raffles etc, there is pretty much 0 mod invovlement, example mohtasia hosts a gfx contest weekly/monthly for his section, but no one does this for the xbox/other games.

 

I'd support moving it under offtopic, just because the games aren't popular on this site.

 

We are in the process of launching a campaign to really get the other game's section popping, and I think that having it closer to the top would be a nice aid to that effort. It couldn't hurt, and I am sure it wouldn't deter anyone from posting in off-topic.

If this site wishes to expand its boarders, then it needs discussions for other games to be front and center as well.

 

I'd like to see Other Games moved below the Off-Topic Section. I think it has much more potential than the GFX Forum and Xbox forum, but it doesn't deserve to be above the Off-Topic.

In my opinion, if sythe.org is to expand to other games, the Other Games section should definitely be moved under the Runescape section. The fact of the matter is that Off Topic doesn't bring in new members, it serves as more of a hangout for community members that have used the site for the market, the runescape cheating sections, etc. Of course there are some exceptions, but the main point is that we're looking to appeal to and hook in a completely new userbase ('other gamers'), while the Off Topic sections harbor members that already use the website for different reasons.

With Runescape as our main focus, sythe.org can and should in my opinion, slowly drift towards other games. Moving the Other Games section to just below the Runescape section makes sense in that regard.

 

I don't think moving Other Games below RuneScape will bring in many more members then if it was under off-topic. I'm all for moving it to see how it goes though, it's just my opinion.

 

Agreed, plus people will be far more likely to hunt for a general section than they would the other game section.
Brining more attention to these sections is going to be very important for sythe's future. At least in my opinion.

Agree'd. Obviously we have an OT section, obviously we have a market, and obviously we have a RS section.

People don't even notice the Other game section, and even the programming section just because both of those are crammed down at the bottom of the site.

 

Another point I'd like to mention - The staff did put effort into making the Other Games section more active by sorting out the Sub-Forums as well as adding a couple of moderators, has this attempt for revival been abandoned? Because I believe it should be brought back because Other Games does have a lot of potential and moving it up the forum will probably help it out.

 

Hopefully this support goes through, i still havn't seen any more mod feedback on the matter, sadly if this section dies out, i will know longer have a purpose here.

 

Support for the reason mentioned above. This goes hand-in-hand with the Guild Initiative. People who don't play RS could use this sort of attention or "exposure' as Delta Squad had worded it.

 

I would support it if i had a chance it Seems like a good idea Harmless even if it dosent work out?
