    Laptop has trouble shutting down.

    First, read this-
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315263

    Then go to -
    C:\Windows\Minidump\092412-42541-01.dmp

and then open the file using the above method, and try to figure out what driver is causing the malfunction.

If you don't want to go through that-
Have you updated any drivers recently? If so roll them back to an older one.
    Possibly try to update windows?

If you want to take the 092412-42541-01.dmp file and just upload it somewhere I will take a look at it and tell you what driver is malfunctioning.

    Good luck!

    Laptop has trouble shutting down.

What OS are you running? I'm presuming 7.

I realise this is oldish, and may have already been solved by Justin the beast. Anyway, you may have to enable the true administrator to upload it.

Can be done by going to cmd.

    Code:
    net user administrator /active:yes
Then log out, and log in via the actual administrator account. Try uploading via that, but i recommend disabling administrator afterwards, as you may end up doing some serious damage if you don't understand what your doing.

    Laptop has trouble shutting down.

Another trick to shutdown windows is by opening CMD

Type CMD in your search, run it and type in the next command:

Tip replace the 0 by the number of seconds you want the OS to wait. For example shutdown -s -t 60 will take the system one minute to shutdown.
0 is the easiest to shutdown :) Quick shutdown, without harming windows.

    Code:
    shutdown -s -t 0

    Laptop has trouble shutting down.

it is a harddrive issue C://

I had the same issue a week ago, it could be a windows issue aswell..

i fixed the problem by using a windows start disc. your windows on your hard drive could be corrupt. This is a common issue, So try to start it up like that, but first

:: Do a System Restore to a Date where the issue did not occur ::

It does not always work if the computer does Have A hard drive issue.

    Laptop has trouble shutting down.

System restore is crap. To be honest the best way to fix most BSOD issues is a fresh format. Takes 30 minutes and your computer will run better then new. Just backup all your information though.

If you don't know how to do that then like mentioned look into your drivers. Sometimes there are hardware failures that cause BSOD also.

    Laptop has trouble shutting down.

Could be a number of things, including a faulty driver.

To the OP: If you read the link and figured out what was faulty, roll the driver back to see if that helps. That should clear up your problems.
