Bath Salts made illegal in Canada.

This is all fine and dandy i couldn't care less if its legal or illegal but something said in this article just made me go "This makes no sense"

    Code:
The Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police called Wednesday's announcement of the ban “an important step in stopping organized criminal groups from acquiring and profiting from this illegal substance."
Making it illegal will only allow criminal organizations acquire and profit off it. Criminal organizations are not going to sell something thats legal(and REGULATED). That's just a ridiculously stupid statement.

We need to have drug laws similar to spains drug laws. So much more effective. But no lets throw more curious kids in prison so that we have less room for murderers and rapists who seem to get off scott free these days or don't even get life sentence. When someone grows a couple pounds of marijuana they get thrown in prison for 50 fucking years.

I do agree its pretty bad that any kid underage can walk into a headshop and buy this stuff with no I.D. In this case it is pretty easy for kids to get these legal drugs(Bath salts, salvia) Because there is no age restriction. The answer is regulation not prohibition, But we must save the youth of this generation!121212e32111! Its already been proven its easier to get a gram of weed then it is to buy beer when your under age. Why? BECAUSE YOU NEED TO GO THROUGH A REGULATED ESTABLISHMENT where people will check ID and not just sell you a bottle of vodka cause you got $40 bucks.

Well, I'm in the us and it's still legal here. But, I actually had someone in my backyard that was on it and this guy was crazy But I agree if it's going to be out there anyways might as well make it legal so the government can put tax on it.

You are right about the criminals selling drugs that aren't legal. Gives them more of an incentive to sell it if it's illegal. = More profit for them

You're right about the organized crime, but the main reason these "bathsalts" ((or research chemicals as they're more accurately called) are made is almost exclusively because they are legal.

This will just put more back into the market of cocaine and other stimulants, or the related markets of other research chems.

You realize it's not one specific chemical that causes the effect? People are going to continue to create new substitutes.

Yeah but if they're smart they can easily ban a majority of them by banning specific things within the chems.
It's how Britain has managed to ban MOST research chemicals without having to ban every individual one.

Also most of these chemicals were synthesized by chemists in the early to mid 20th century, very few of the research checmicals on the market today are recently discovered.

Edit: in fact, I think the only thing recently discovered worth crap was the addition to the phenethylamine family with the 2c-x NBOME series.

^^^ That's not very effective. They have been banning the chemicals for synthetic marijuana for a while now, but the companies sightly change the chemical and make a new ones. Which leads to major health concerns because with each new chemical has new and unknown side effects which could cause great harm.

Don't kid yourself, they're ALL extremely dangerous and have unknown side effects. And they don't modify anything, they're just taking previously synthesized chemicals (by legitimate chemists) and trying to sell on it.

They don't discover anything, they don't innovate anything, they're just following the obscure drug cookbook.
