I can always donate any revenues generated from the servers to Sythe.org, but I don't think it will come to that.

I've had experience running a CS:S server before. Maybe it'll come back to me. Anyway, I'm going to contact Karl and/or some other moderators about this. I've been wanting to buy a dedicated server for a while now, and if I purchase one, I can run a CS:GO, TF2, Minecraft, and IRC on it.

 

Considering that even the best server costs only something like $30 a bunch then I'm fine with it. If it begins to get too costly, if people really want it I'm sure they can all donate a couple of dollars each to Sythe to keep it running. If not, then Sythe can just close it.

 

Like I said, there's probably some way to run it for next to nothing off someone's computer, I just don't know too much on the topic.

 

$30 isn't much, when ever i get fully moved in officially or unofficially we are doing this

easy way to promote, host live streams with cd key giveaways to sythe member, while having a public server that anyone can join etc etc.

 

Wouldn't mind a ARMA 2/DayZ server.

 

ARMA 2/ DayZ would be amazing, but I don't know if it would really draw any new people to Sythe. I'd love to eventually see one, but if this was to take off I don't think that would be a good server to start out with.

 

I personally would prefer a dedicated server. Should have less hassles and we probably wouldn't even need the $30, the $20 options seem suitable.

We could even use the one server for multiple games. I.E. Team Fortress on Saturday, then CS on Sunday?

 

Yeah I noticed that too and I really like that option. With one server we can switch it each week, or hold different tournaments in games on the same server.

Only problem is that if the server hops around a lot, it makes it difficult to build a solid player base on the server.

You can run a COD4 server off your computer pretty easy, the software is pretty much easy to use. If we get pricing, servers and everything sorted out, do we know which game we are going to host on? I think we should do one that is relatively popular in the world but is well known here too.

 

Well Grave seemed to be the largest supporter and he's in and out of bans right now so I don't know how stable that will be. Not saying Grave isn't capable of it, but when he is in and out of trouble with the staff, I don't know if he would be the best choice to represent us infront of people who are unaware of Sythe.org.

Really now it's a matter of weather or not anyone on the staff would be willing to back this up, or if it would even be a feasible option. I realize that this does have a possibility to fail epically, no one joins it and then in the worst scenario we are stuck with a server for a month or two where us as a community can organize events to play with each other.

 

like i said above i'm willing to pay for it, it'll just be about a month till i can.

 

It would be nice if Sythe formed a community for gamers on steam such as couple of servers for every type of game. I mean, Sythe by itself, is a huge community already.

 

Thoughts on me getting a one year CS1.6 server Free of charge for everyone and is already paid by me?

 

I think that would be an amazing start. I personally do not play CS 1.6, but I'm sure others do, plus it should hopefully direct some new people here to our site as well.

We really need something to draw in new people and get the current members participating together.

Deltas gaming night is already starting to be a success. Hopefully we can have a few moderators pop over for the gaming and if it's a success that will sway them. Give it a chance?
