Robotz In Disguise - Bot Watch Study

So, as most of you all know, Jagex is going to fully release their Bot Watch and Botany Bay systems sometime this week (Monday/Tuesday most likely). Obviously there is a lot of speculation about whether certain bots will be touched or attacked. I also know there has been a lot of discussion about RiD, Robotz In Disguise, and this new Botany Bay and Bot Watch system.

The official statement made by RiD for this new system that is due to be released very soon can be found here:

Now this is not an advertisement, I am actually posting this as a base of a few statements. RiD's bots will obviously be down and unusable until he gives the all-clear.

So, to extend the topic of this post, are there any bot developers out here or site staff that has any statements of any precautions or posts regarding the Bot Watch and Botany Bay update that is to happen very soon. How do you guys think it will effect different bot sites? What are some things that different developers are doing to fight against this update?

On topic: Most bot's might be down for a little bit but will all come back at some point.
My only worry is account safety(i only use RiD, so i know im safe). But my question is how safe are bots like pb going to be after they get back up?
Off topic: I hope gold prices rise!!!

Some say the injection ones will never come back. But I'm sure whatever Jagex decides to do, there will be bots and I will continue supporting botting(Not gold-farming!) to prevent people wasting life in such a game.

Mod Mark said that the nuke from this week will be similar to what happened last year... So powerbot will go down.

In addition to the nuke we will also see that bot watch/botany bay update they told us about.

I take it then that you didn't completely watch the Live Stream about Bots with Mod MMG and Mod Mark?

They both stated that the Botany Bay + Bot Watch + Bot Nuke would all be released before the end of the month. Well, this is the last week of September (not counting the 30th, which is next sunday) so it would only be logical for it all to be released at the same time.

They stated that the Bot Nuke will be launched to break 98% of bots... just like last year... while their new Bot Watch system will be detecting and banning the bots that remain. Now, if RiD 2.0 is as good as it is being played out to be, that would mean that there shouldn't be any worries from them. This does however bring me to wonder about how the system will be affecting color bots like Simba, Scar, and Runedream, and if the Nuke will break OpenGL bots like Tribot and Convinbot (and now Simba OGL). If none of those bots break, it will be interesting to see just how effective their detection system is. Perhaps we will see the launch tomorrow? Normally Jagex releases big content on Tuesdays, so we will see.

I don't think so at all... Personally I think RiD will be down for a month max.

Yeah I agree for the most part. RiD already stated that he is taking down all the bots for at least a week or two to run this testing and make sure everything is perfect (he is getting volunteer help from community members, so that may speed it up a bit). I'd estimate 1-2 weeks, and *maybe* at most 3-4, but that would only be if there are some serious speed bumps along the way.

I'm eager for the launch of Bot Watch so that I can start testing with RiD. :D

No doubt they'll be back up, but whether they'll not get banned... personally, I feel the risk will end up being to great.

RiD isn't invincible, lower detection just comes from being a color bot in general and enforcing guidelines that are simply common sense.

I'm curious to what this is going to lead to though.

    1. There is no "enforcing" of Guidelines. Every user may bot as they wish.
    2. It's not just that it's a color bot, it's the fact that it uses human mouse movements and Unique Styles technology, while keeping its source code safe from Jagex.
    3. Lower detection? How about no detection. While following Guidelines not a single user has been banned in over 4 years. The only people who have ended up banned were breaking Guidelines enough to the point where it was blatantly obvious that they had to be a bot, regardless of how human the behavior was. Follow Guidelines and you're completely safe; break Guidelines repeatedly and you run the risk of being banned. The risk is extremely small, but it does sometimes happen. Just recently were the first bans RiD has seen in over a year, obviously all of the Guideline Breakers. RiD v2.0 should be a whole new system and will bring a new era of botting.

See, the problem is that it's pretty easy for a real player to tell who's a bot and who isn't.. That's not something jagex needs more software to do. If they want to catch bots, then need to sit in the places and just instantly ban them, After a while, the problem would die down because it takes more time to create an account than to ban one.

I think bots will never die down. People will always find new ways no matter what jagex throws at them. Who knows, there might already be a bot system thats entirely undetectable.
