My apologies if the term "3rd-party wesbite goldsellers" confuses you, I'm sure there is a much better term but I can't think of one off the top of my head. And this is what I mean. >>click me!<<

*Note- from here on in, "Sythe" is referred to as the website, not our glorious leader.

If you think about, Sythe is supporting websites like UsFine, Gold4Fun, Gold4Key, and all the other smaller goldsites. Now, I'm not talking about websites like RSUltimate or RSSource because they were founded from members who started out here, (Grave and Lime Soda, respectively).

By allowing other 3rd-party companies to buy gold here, it's only funding their own sites. If you cut them out, consumers will have to find someone else to buy from. A la, any of the other trusted users.

I'm sorry if you think this is pointless, just a thought that popped in my head. Are you for? Are you against? Let me know why! Any and all feedback is lovely.

I think they should be able to. It will make gold cheaper in the long run, I'd think.

By "supporting" do you mean the ads? That's because they pay to be there I assume.

No, not the ads. Buying gold in general, in the Marketplace.

Yes, it creates more demand for gold, if we have larger sites trading with people on sythe as well. But I can see the problem with them having bad trades sometimes, as Gold4fun is notorious for.

Yes, they are entitled to create a sythe.org account and buy/sell regardless of what gold site they belong to.

Please read my post again. You really aren't supporting your answer with anything.

It doesn't create more of a demand for gold if sythe users don't bother buying off Sythe, but rather the other goldsites.

If they buy gold from users on Sythe, then it will create more demand.

Sythe.org acts as a marketplace and is essentially a meeting place for traders. As far as I'm aware, if I walked into a Marketplace or Mall these days, there are larger stores and smaller stores. The smaller stores may be run by an individual I.E. A regular Sythe member. A larger store may be run by a company or group of people I.E. These websites. These websites need to purchase the link to be able to advertise there website, just the same as you'd pay more if you were to get a larger store in a mall.

Basically my point is Sythe is a meeting place and a regulator. Who sells and buys can include almost anyone.

Alright, think of it this way then. Sythe, is a clothing store. Gold4fun, UsFine, etc, are clothing stores as well. Imagine employees of Gold4Fun or UsFine coming into Sythe and purchasing our clothes, only to bring them back to their own store and sell it at a potentially higher price.

As much as I'd love to get more money and eliminate competition, that would turn myself into something I personally despise.

The market is a free place to trade and shouldn't be regulated in such a way. I'm sure Sythe's philosophy is quite similar.

I agree with this, and I also agree with the analogy Brendan used. Essentially the OP is whining about competition. More competition means better prices for consumers and a larger drive in the market. Sythe, as Brendan said, is a marketplace like a mall and each of the marketeers has a stall or a store in that mall and as long as they follow the rules of the mall they're allowed to continue selling their wares. In the end eliminating competition harms the consumers which is never a good thing.

It's kind of bittwesweet. They do create activity in the forums, but I always dread when I come accross a thread that is advertising something, and the way they sell is "o hi i se ur on sythe now come buy from my website".

I'd rather see those people be confined to having to buy advertisements that go to fund this site, and leave the market to other trusted sellers who base their shops and whatnot in this site.

I think there's really no problem with it, honestly. For example, r2pleasant started out on Sythe, and built his reputation on it. When he felt he needed to expand past Sythe, he just made a website, but advertised it on Sythe.

When, however, chinese goldfarmers etc. set up websites without having any background feedback here, and simply advertise their "livechats" it does seem a bit sketchy. The irritating thing with these sites is you could have a "rogue agent" who scams 1b, and then the website can say they had no knowledge of this, and the person has been dealt with. How, then, can you know whether they are truly legit or not?

All in all, though, it does bring more traffic to the site with people who are seeking to buy RSGP, and the likes, which increase opportunities for other sellers, too.

Sorry if I seem to be whining, that was never my intention.

I just wanted to see other people's thoughts on this. I wasn't really trying to get anything actually done, or else this would be in the Feedback section.

You all have some valid points, mainly eliminating competition = higher prices, and the traffic that they (however minor) create.

If they don't break rules they should be allowed to do anything we do. It is like capping someone's success no matter how hard they work, which would be unfair.

    Are they really a problem?
They're not causing problems for buyers like me; they help keep the prices down and provide a safe market for me to trade in, in which I don't need t have a fear for scams.

They made their websites for their convenience. It's easier to keep track of data if you have your own tools for it. They have bought ads on sythe and mist f them are users here, full entitling them to do their business.

Of other sellers feel uncmfortable with them around, they should try harder, not complain.

Not an accurate comparison in the least. Sythe is like a clothing convention and all those other websites are like stores coming in to show their stuff off, Also you have to consider RSU and rssource the same as the other gold websites otherwise you are plain just picking favorites.

Sythe is not a store nor do we sell goods. We are just one of if not the largest black market conventions for runescape goods.
