This may be seen as unpopular, but I think it would be an overall benefit to sythe as a whole.

Post count serves no purpose but for e-peen waving, and creating a false "trust".
This would also stop people from mass posting relatively useless things, leading to overall better post quality.

Just my 2 cents on this anyways.

This doesn't even make sense, mind making an actual response?

Why would people spam more without post count?

How would you suggest we differentiate between those who joined in 2005 who posted 5 times and those who joined in 2005 who posted 4500 times, there's no way to track activity and this just makes it easier for those who mass recover old accounts to scam.

Not to mention it promotes less posting so it would lead to the forums being dead in most sections.

Also as johnk said people will have no reason to post quality posts as posts in the current system which are spam are removed but with no post count it wouldn't even matter if the post is deleted because nobody has a reason to post quality.

You shouldn't equate trust to post count anyways, anyone who is trusted will be known to be trusted.
And I think that this will help with that.

If the person's reason to post was for post count alone, why would you want their input.

But what's the point of spamming crappy posts if there is no post count? And isn't spamming useless posts against the rules anyways? Isn't that an incentive in itself?

I guess I just have a different opinion since I belong to a forum who has this in effect, you begin not to notice it and realize that it isn't important at all.

Trust has nothing to do with post count, that's why there are vouches.

Spam or not, it shows your activity level. This is a suggestion I guarantee wont be accepted.

It can show experience however, which may be a factor for trust.

    Simply responding to their reasoning.

So what? What is so important about it? To make yourself feel cool?
If someone is good to a community, people will know that postcount or not.

    Maybe.

Those who join recently can't differentiate between who is trusted or not so they factor activity into it as well, if there's no post count to rely on who's active and who is not then the person relies on join date as a first impression.

Post count gives a reason to post, if we remove post count I can guarantee the whole forum will turn into the spam forums, and if it doesn't all the activity will move to the spam forums.

The only places no post count really works is on really large forums, but apart from WoW and I think RS I am yet to see it work, and even on those forums apart from rants/ suggestions the rest is pretty dead compared to the size of the games.

Activity level shows how active you are in the community. Most users who spam are usually infracted for doing so. This currently has nothing to do with the market. If any buyer is tricked into believing a member should be trusted just based on their post count is foolish and should be evaluated because he or she may be an elephant.

I'd give people some credit, honestly.

Why? Is the rest of the site not worth posting on? Believe me things don't just turn to shit because there isn't a counter keeping track of their posts.

Because majority of the community belong to the game, not the forums. It's basically splitting 2 major social mediums.

And people will know this, even without the number there.
