Any other fans ?

Im talking shit like stooges, mc5, bowie ect as far as protopunk type stuff and strait out classic punk rock like the clash, the damned, the germs, ramones ect

any other punk fans ? I know theres a mod/ex mod with the name clash fan maybe i can draw him out and hopefully a few others . We can talk more well known stuff or get obscure, just list some of the bands you like and what not and lets get it started . We can even delve into 80s hardcore, no "hxc or other false core though please" im no purist, if its punk rock im more than likely a fan.

I love classic punk. The Bad Brains, The Circle Jerks, The Queers, Black Flag (Not really classic), Sublime. I am sure I could go on.

The Clash is tied for my favourite band, The Stooges are pretty sick too, also Stiff Little Fingers. I like a lot more than just classic punk though, I'm really into the Descendents, Adolescents, Leftover Crack, Choking Victim, Operation Ivy, The Unseen, Bad Religion, NOFX, and love them or hate them The Offspring (their first 4 albums are pretty damn punk but I appreciate most of their later work as well)

Ive been listening to the descendents so fucking much lately and i cant pinpoint why, i guess its cuz i started it all with pop punk and descendents appeals to that a lot. I love the crack rock steady scene as well, have you heard no cash ? They only released one album but they pretty much out stza'ed stza lol .. i wish they would regroup. Im a HUGE nofx fan as well as pretty much every other band you listed, i had in mind this thread based more around the 77' scene like some of the bands i posted in OP but doesnt seem to be much of a niche here on sythe for it. You said clash is tied for your favorite band.. whats your fav ? Im also a metalhead too so dont worry about heading that way hahah i love OLD black metal and doom mainly as well as more classic and SOME not so classic death metal

You through me off with listing sublime in your list of bands hahah i like sublime but they arent quite punk rock in the sense those other bands are. And wtf you talking about flag not being classic!?!? BLASPHEMY they were releasing music in 77' man thats about as classic as it gets! I love all black flag even their slower later rollins era stuff. Lets keep this thread alive!

yeah INDK is great i only have kill whitey lp and the INDK 7'' and kill whitey 7'' surprised ezra made a hxc type band lol i didnt like them at first but it definitely grew on me . so whats your fav band that clash has tied up with ?

 

Sublime is punk, it's straight Ska which is a punk subgenre. They're new stuff isn't as good though, with Rome and all. They're more mellow than the get out and bust some heads punk. My favorite classic punk band of all time is probably the Stooges though. I also like more of the pop/punk sound of Billy Idol and the early Blondie stuff. If you look a lot of the great bands started off with a more punk sound. I mean hell the Beastie Boys started off as a hardcore band.

I also like the Dropkick Murphys. They're my second favorite normal punk band. If you really like DIY Punk look into Mischief Brew as they're my favorite punk of all time, and then DKM, and then probably Against Me!. It's too hard to pick, but my favorite punk genre is by far Folk-Punk and DIY/Acoustic Punk.

BB punk album "polywog stew" is the worst thing i have ever heard hahahahahha. And yeah im down with blondie too, not so much billy idol but for new wavey stuff blondie is pretty tops. BTW ska isnt a subgenre of punk, ska was around wayyyyyyyyy before, but 2nd and 3rd wave ska took on a lot of punk elements. My comment about sublime wasnt anything belittling them at all it just was kinda out of place among the likes of circle jerks and bad brains is all. Glad to have another big stooges fan in here!! Ive been listening to them alot lately, its so weird to see how far iggy deviated from the original stooges with his solo stuff.

 

Hmmm... .Always thought Ska was a subgenre of punk. Learn new things every day. Must also explain my enjoyment of reggae.

FOLK PUNK! like what bands ? Im a huge fan of the pogues .. like HUGEEE fan I also love early against me and violent femmes as well as the meat puppets album "meat puppets II" it has alot of folky influences. You may not have heard of them but this band This Bike is a Pipebomb is a great lesser known folkpunk band i have had the pleasure of seeing 3 times, also saw gogol bordello in 2009

Dude Chris Clavin is my hero. I have listen to all of his bands from Ghost Mice to The Bike is a Pipebomb and Captain Chaos. Please tell me you listen to Mischief Brew, Wingnut Dishwasher Union, The Andrew Jackson Jihad, and my all time favorite Johnny Hobo and the Freight Trains (well, I actually have a really hard time deciding between Mischief Brew and JH.)

Jesus i havent listened to any of those bands outside of mischeif brew (whom i love) i really like the song you linked me, i found this bike is a pipe bomb on accident really they ended up playing with a local band here in 2010 or early 2011 at this DIY venue and just loved it. I dont really have anyone to share my love of folk punk with anymore so my interest in it has stagnated a bit, im about to go searching for some torrents of johnny hobo and the freight trains as i realllly liked the song you linked

The Offspring, really just because I grew up with them and they've remained a band I consistently never get bored of.

 

Smash and smashing pumpkins adore were my first cd's EVER. Hand me downs from a cool neighbor, smash is one of my alltime favorite albums kinda for that same reason, growing up on them and what not.

@nero im about to PM i need to find a place to find some good torrents! I used to use soulseek but for some reason the new version is eating my ram and i cant do anything with it on.

The musics not bad but that wannabe nardwuar faggot needs his throat slit . seriously i want to stab his face . dont really hear too much folk punk in it though some pretty good lyrics in some of their stuff though, what other bands do you like ?

 

Their latest CD wasn't their best. They do have some really good stuff, and they're actually the ones that got me into folk punk.
