Sythe - Everyday dealings...

Hello, most people have probably seen me posting around since I've been here (just over a month) and a question sprung to mind earlier on and decided to make a thread about it.

I first came to Sythe for the black market, which is why I guess a large proportion of the community are here for. However, my intentions quickly changed as I began to gain more experience on the forum. When I first came here I was very much so interested in buying and selling accounts. I did that for a couple of weeks and occasionally do the odd sale but I don't buy accounts anymore.

I'm not too interested in that side of Sythe and are more so interested in posting around the forums and getting involved in the community. I love to come here everyday and post around, sharing my opinions and helping other people out. I rarely enter the market anymore as It's not really what I want to do or gain out of Sythe.

If you read my Aims and goals 3 weeks ago you will see that back then I wanted to become a really respected account seller. I've realized now that instead of that I'd like to become a really respected member of the community Yes it may sound cliche but I actually enjoy posting around and hearing other people's opinions (even though sometimes they're not the same one's as mine).

So, Is what I was wondering is; "What are your everyday dealings with Sythe?". By that I don't mean just trading. I mean do you come here to hang out in the community and get to know people, do you hang around in the Spam forum heckling "Newfag" at all the new members *Cough* Ross, Apith, Laptop etc. *Cough*, or do you sell accounts/RSGP or various other game related items?

Let me know below, and has your intentions changed from when you first joined the forums like me? Also if you have a spare moment don't forget to vote on the poll!

For the longest time I was a total marketfag. Then I kinda chilled for a while, answered a few random questions about market, paypal, runescape. I got into OGV, became a mod, and then got kicked out of OGV for inactivity. 99% of my time on sythe is doing mod stuff, the other 1% is an occasional account sale or middlemanned trade

 

I came to sell some stuff. Not very involved in the market anymore now. Pretty much the same story as you. I just prefer reading, and I rarely post

 

I came here to buy membership and I'm involved in the community more than I expected. I like the forums

 

I came for SFA debates and discussions.

 

I first came on to sell pins.

Now I come on to see whats up, let others do the dirty work on my account (Quests, skilling, etc)

 

Interesting story What's OGV may I ask? Sorry to sound like a total noob but I kind of am That's good to see you spend so much time doing mod work. Thanks for taking your time to answer this post! You always seem to be handling reports and doing what you 'voulenteered' to do, good job

Oh, awesome I was going to get involved in selling pins but never managed to break into the market if I'm honest. I see you post around quite a bit and get involved, you've also handled a lot of my reports so you're doing your mod job very well! Is it your aim to ever become a Global moderator?

Oh that's awesome to see you've been 'dragged' into the community haha. I originally came here to sell accounts but have just loved being apart of the community and posting around. It's really quite addictive haha.

I've posted a few things in the SFA and I've seen you reply a couple of times so that's great to see I hope to get more involved in the debating (SFA) section. My arguing and debating skills aren't really too great as you can already see from my threads hahaha. Hopefully improve them though you seem very well spoken and have solid opinions!

 

I came here to enjoy the community and post on topics i deem interesting, i sometimes deal with RSGP as i have a little shop running

I'm not writing my whole Sythe story here. I came here in March in 2010, but mainly fucked around and didn't do much during that period. I got temp banned in April 2010 I think, left the site and came back around December 2010, made this account and moved forward with this one. I was mainly into the Market when I first came here. I was around but not 100% around during beginning - middle of 2011, so I pretty much sat through all the Finn/Tyro drama back then. Towards the end of 2011 I was more involved with the site, particularly in the Minecraft section with x339 and MohatsaUnique. At the beginning of 2012 I was extremely active almost everywhere, the SF, Community, Off Topic, TC sessions. Then on the middle of February I was promoted to RS Mod, things went good for a few months, then I was demoted, spam forum drama, IRC and so on. I'm still quite active on the site, and don't see myself leaving anytime soon. I rarely use the Market these days.

 

My intentions for sythe a few weeks ago were just to use the market. I became a donor, did some other stuff. Now I just want to be community involved, and make some friends.

I have no idea what went down in that time period. I've heard a few remarks being said here and there related to finn but never got the full story. Hopefully I'll get to hear it some day

Ah that's a shame man Sorry to hear you got demoted. You do seem to be very helpful around the forums and post a fair bit though and you helped me a few times when I first joined up, so thanks Do you miss your mod days?

It's a really long and boring story, Finn essentially got promoted to staff and went from Sectional to admin within a year, things went good for a bit but then drama and shit started appearing. He banned people for silly reasons, demoted staff because he didn't like them/other reasons. Just unbearable really for a lot of the site. He resigned in the end due to Uni and family issues. Yeah I help around a lot and am known as a post whore =| As for Mod, there's some parts I miss and parts I don't miss. It was essentially my fault what happened, although I don't blame anyone else for it.

 

I came here for the market, became entwined in the community then as runescape dulled for me my interest did in the website, but then as I aged I realized that it was great way to make money out of thin air so now I am here for the market I suppose.

I'm somewhat of a relic from the beginning of Sythe, and I legitimately feel like that, too much has changed in the community and I know almost nobody and very small amounts of what occurred in my absence.

I'll definitely have a read through some of this quite interested what went on I saw the restitution thread which I guess is partly to do with that whole drama.

Ah that's quite interesting! As soon as I saw "Join date 2005" and "Ex-Administrator" it stood out to me that you were an old timer Well I guess I'm on the complete opposite end of that with only joining a month ago! Yeah the market does seem to be a fantastic money making tool if you have some know how or have a willingness to learn. I hope I can get into it more. It may sound contradicting as I said I want to be more community involved and move away from the market but maybe in the future I can manage to be heavily community involved and still be in the market, would be awesome!

I don't mean to be nosey but what sort of stuff do you buy/sell? You don't really have to be specific; just like RSGP? or accounts? or maybe other stuff?

And damn, I know I said you're an old timer above. But 7 years is a really long time!

Hopefully speak to you more in the future. would be nice to get to know more people as I haven't really met or spoken to many people at all

When I first joined, my reasons of joining were primarily for the market. I sold a few gift cards, bought a few RSGP, and was a rare name enthusiast. After losing mass amounts of money due to staking and the fact that the game was slowly dieing I quit RS, and therefore quit the market in general.

Then I discovered the Spam Forum...Ashaxx, if you feel that you havent really been "accepted" into the Spam Forum as yet, all I can say is that you should have seen me lol.

All I can say is hang in there and keep doing what your doing. Become a donator (this is a must), join our TinyChat sessions every so often, and come in the irc once in the while (I have never seen you join). Basically get more community involved "outside" of Sythe.org. Eventually, you will fit right and maybe Laptop will stop pestering you lol.

 

I think everyone joins for the Market at first and Ashaxx, become a donor, even if it's $5, you'll love the donor lounge. Also drop in the IRC from time to time - http://www.sythe-irc.org/

The spam forum is a hard place to fit into, most definitely aha.
And it's a shame to see you've moved out of the market section but I do see you a lot in the spam forum. I don't really post there much at the moment due to being trolled constantly but I know most of it's a joke so I don't really care now Most the time it's pretty funny.

I have entered the IRC two times (not a lot I know) and I didn't really seem to 'fit in'. I couldn't keep up with the convo but that's because I'm really new and don't really know what's being discussed aha. But I'm cool with that I'll come in there more and see what's going on.

Now this is going to make me sound like a total idiot. But I don't even know what TinyChat is. I'm guessing it's like an IRC or something? IDK too much about it lol. I wasn't too sure on how to get involved outside the community, never really been told or spoken to anyone who is involved outside the community.

I've been meaning to do so for the past 2 weeks now! Just never actually got around to doing it -.- I've got the RSGP to be able to do it so I'll defo do it at some point this week

I came here to initially buy a skiller in 2007 and ended up getting scammed by a chap called gummybear. My last market interraction was the sale of my own skiller that I created from scratch with 7 99 stats.

Having no interest in RuneScape or the market, I indulge myself in the Offtopic and Spam forum side of things, even if I don't post much these days.
