    Runescape then and now

    Howdy all,

This might come across as quite broad in regards to this specific forum, however I felt the need to post in here as it used to be the sub-forum I would post and lurk in most. I havn't played runescape properly in over 4ish* years now, mainly quitting when PK was taken the first time, i've popped my head in a few times over the past few years but it just doesnt seem the same as it was, and im doubting it ever will be.

Im just interested to see what peoples perceptions on runescape now opposed to that of 3-5 years ago is? I wouldn't mind giving it another shot for fun - however doubting it would be anywhere as fun as the good days of PKing, luring, merching and the rest. Whats the brief change now in these areas opposed to then and now? Has the game generally changed majorly?

It was such a fun game around those times, having had played for a solid 3-4ish years in total. I'm just very interested to hear how people would generally sum-up the game then to now? To be honest I doubt my love for the game has chance to rekindle what it once was haha, good times!

Nothing like it use to be. However I know Rs3 is due sometime soon and that's no lie you can see in the Jagex live stream on Micro-payments, so it would be interesting if they made rs2 like the old 2006 Rs.

I'm not sure if, that when Rs3 is released, if they will keep rs2 up. Personally I believe this as they are moving more towards the whole money fiend situation and they do not want runescape to be seen with poor animations etc (probably why they are phasing out Rs Classic, making it harder to play and not doing promotions for it anymore).

Rs3 isn't a huge graphics revamp either, so they'll just paste it over Rs2 as it is only combat that really changes.

Yeah I guess that's all true. I'm kind of saddened by the fact that I have never played RSclassic and I will probably never be able to play it, only because I couldn't afford members. Also yeah I think it would be quite awkward if they left rs2 as their would be the possibility that all 'experienced' rs players refuse to move onto rs3

Yeah I could imagine that, there are quite a few "veterans" of runescape that don't like the change. They are definitely outnumbered by people who like the update, I myself am on the fence. I think the best way for people to protest the update would be to just make a skiller, as that doesn't use anything from the update.

Another thing I just thought of, their SoF promotions, etc would be redundant being on two games of Rs, not only that if they wanted to change it they would have to apply it twice to two different games and two different codes, Rs3 will be in HTML5 apparently while currently Rs2 is in java.

    Hmm. Interesting question...

I, myself used to play RuneScape 5 years ago. However, I never PK'd and was more into the game for different reasons; such as skilling and just generally having fun. I wouldn't say all the fun has been zapped out of the game but definitely a big proportion has. Without sounding like a hypocrite (because I myself have botted, on many occasions) I believe a lot of the fun was taken out of the game (for my anyway) when bots became such a mass used thing. Yes there has pretty much always been bots but not on the scale there has been in the last 3 years or so.

I've talked about this before on other posts that for me this has ruined most of the fun. I tried to play legitimately a few months back and after a couple of weeks I just returned to botting and have since stopped all interaction with RS (the odd occasional trade, but that's only because I'm trying to get rid of all my accounts) as I really don't feel like playing anymore.

Without involving the EoC into this too much I hope the EoC turns the game around. I know a lot of people have been bitching about the fact that Pking will change but maybe this is what the game needs; a change around. People only hate the idea of Pking changing with EoC because they can't longer use the methods they've been using for the past 5 years or so and will have to adopt new strategies to play the game. I also hope that JaGex deal with the botting issue. Although Sythe is heavily based around the black market (which involved a tonne of botting to get RSGP at cheap prices etc.) I mainly come here for the great community and to help people out.

Perhaps I will return to RS one day and will enjoy it. That's what I hope, although I think chances of this happening are slim.

Runescape is currently at it's best state, however everyone cannot agree to that because too many things are changing. It's for the better though
