    Car Scene - Anyone else?

I was just wondering if anyone here is part of their local car scene. Do any of you put money/time into your cars? Own something specific and nice? I personally love cars and have went through a lot of them.

I currently own a 1994 Camaro z28 with a 350 LT1 with mods done to it. Owned it for approximately a year so far, I take it to Great Meadows drag strip in Jersey and run 13.1 in the quarter mile with drag slicks; I plan on getting myself into the 12's by next spring once winter passes. I just plasti-dipped my rims black to make it look more aggressive, plan on doing some more aesthetic work to it over the winter when it's garaged. Has a rare interior for the year, came stock with a red on black z28 interior package.

99.9% of the people in my local 'car scene' are douche bags who equate loud mufflers, rap music, and body kits to being cool. They just sit outside of a gas station until like 3 in the morning and are just generally stupid. I don't have much respect for them or their cars. With that being said I love cars. I was raised around classic cars and american muscle though and care more what is under the hood than a sound system or a paint job.

Hell yeah, that's why I went with American Muscle. I can't rock ricers, even though I've seen some run 9 seconds in a quarter. Sound systems, body kits, coil overs, and all that don't make a car fast; but more low does look nice on some whips.

Agreed, whats under he hood is always far more impressive than a shitty body kit, a muffler mod, and a home wired sound system that sounds like shit.

Most car mods are illegal in my country.
Loud mufflers, fatter tires, racing body-kits, change of seats... We have a restriction for everything.

But that doesn't seem to be much of a problem, because I live in a pretty damn rich area and I see Lamborghini Aventadors and Gallardos rolling around on a daily basic.
    If not, they're Audi R8s;
Actually, it's best if you ask me which car I HAVEN'T seen rolling around more than 100 meters away from my house :p

Yep, people seem to like their nice sport cars original.

    ...

    Meaanwhile, I have a manual-drive, 2nd generation spark. heh

I personally don't really care what car I have, as long as it works, and it's not a fucking cube.

    like really... who designed that?

but personally, as long as it's not a shithole, it works, and it fits a bunch of my friends, I'm fine with it.

I personally prefer Japanese cars, I have a white g37 s coupe, I haven't really added any customs to it this year but next year I'm going to add a nice intake to it and maybe some black trim.

I know what you mean by ricers though such as those Hondas with massive exhausts which output nothing. I've seen a lot of american muscle cars which have nice body kits but no power to them and raced a few as well, from my experience though my g37 S can eat most american muscle cars in its class with ease. I've had Japanese cars for the last 3 years and personally love them due to their engineering, gas efficiency, and low maintenance costs. I used to have a Chrysler (during the bad Chrysler days) and didn't like it, I do love how challengers and mustangs look but they are too big for my likings, but the new challengers are apparently taking on a past look of the barracuda which with current technology might be the best car in its class when released.

    Car Scene - Anyone else?

I love muscle cars. My dad used to own a 79 trans am, all fixed up for racing since he was a street racer in his younger days, then one day, he went to mexico to visit family, my uncle took it for a drive when he came back, it was wrecked. So my dad sold it for parts, that was like 20 years ago :/

I currently own a 98 chevy tahoe sport 4x4. Not really a racing car/truck, but i have smoked most of my friends with "fixed up cars". Its nice knowing a lifted truck with all terrain tires can beat a camaro. (indeed, i have beat my friends camera after school one day)

Sorry if this is spam cause it doesnt really count as a car :s

A g37 is considered tuner rather rice, those cars are pretty nice. By rice I mean non-performance cars that claim output with nothing to back it up.

I do like how fine tuned the Japanese performance cars are. I have always been partial to the Nissan Skyline myself. They're too expensive to buy and import in the US though.

My dad collects cars. But not these new fancy-smancy cars. The old ones.

This is one of the oldest cars sitting in our garage now:

He also collects army jeeps/trucks. Here is an actual picture of our trucks. (We have like 100x more than what is shown in the picture)

Gotta love those old army trucks.

Anyways, I am into trucks mostly, some cars are cool but I prefer heading through the trails in my F150.

never really had anything crazy nice but ive always enjoyed working on and fixing my vehicles. I used to sell cars for Ford and ive had about 10 in the last 2 years. I miss my old ford the most. 1990 f250 302 manual on 38.5's truck was a beast. Couldnt afford always fixing it and shit. Was fun mudding while it lasted. I got a 01 jeep atm its nice but i miss power.

I'm very interested in modified cars, though never been an enthusiast myself. It's a shame really as 'Boy Racer' and 'Enthusiast' often get mixed up a lot.

Those that tend to have the nicer cars, such as yourself. Try not to wreck it by drifting the streets and burnouts at 3am..

In the future I plan to own/modify a Toyota Supra.

Street racing is one of the primary factors of why enthusiasts are mixed with boy racers, or ricers in your case.

Risking the lives of yourself and innocent people on the road is totally unacceptable and I hope you loose your license before you kill yourself or others.

*save it for the tracks / drag strips and stop increasing my insurance premiums.

In my area, all the cars that I've seen that've been done up are actually pretty poor performance cars. They try to make them look really flashy, but they have the same performance as your basic family car. Ford Falcons and Holden Commodores are the most commonly seen modified cars.

Personally, I own a basic car, first car, can't really do much more for a couple grand haha. The picture below shows the exact car at the car yard I bought it from.

Hey, that's my sisters car! It's pretty cheap for her to run haha.
