Introduction to PvM

Hey guys, I've recently gotten tired of Pk'ng and skilling...so I've decided to learn more about PvM. I essentially have no knowledge when it comes to this side of runescape, besides the fact that there is great possibility of quality drops. So I'm here to ask...what type of accounts are meant for PvM, what stats and or quests are mandatory/recommended for a good PvM account? Also, would my range tank work (99def,range,mage,hp,summ) work or should I use another account?

 

Do you mean PvM as in bossing or as in slayer?

Slayer can be achieved on any accounts, with slayer being ideal.

For bossing your range tank would be perfect. It would work well against the Kbd, (I can't remember which Gwd bosses are weak against range)

 

armadyl is weak to range, and yes your tank ranger seems idial

I am talking about bossing in particular. Is there an account that would work better than my tank, like a maxed main? What's the ideal pvm stats?

not to be a tool or that guy when answering this question but for pvm your want max stats. 99 atk str should be a high priority, your range tank is a great account but only good for ranging pvm or pk unless you want to max out its melee stats effectively making it like every other maxed main out there so you may want to consider botting or using a different account. Questing for barrows gloves or goliaths is almost essential as the regen brace is shit, though now you could just buy bandos gloves which are about as good as barrows gloves in a lot of aspects. Doing the quests for spirit shields can be really beneficial if you plan on doing some serious pvm

 

Right, I was considering making/using another account...just wasn't sure as to what stats would be most beneficial. Thanks for the help.

 

to be honest your range tanks pretttttty fucking beast lol.. im not sure if i would turn it into a main unless you are just bored with the account, but with such a good head start making it a main would be easily done

 

I'd have to agree with Brandon.

To boss nowa days you need maxxed stats (excluding defense of course) to compete with other bossers. You'll be crashed hourly with the amount of people playing nowa days, and with the introduction of the new pieces of gear from Godwars.

 

Okay, I see what you're saying. So basically my tank COULD work but it just isn't the ideal setup?

 

It WOULD work at arma, maybe nex. That's about it.
