[UnOfficial] Discontinued/Holiday Item Price Thread

NOTE: This thread does not include ANY tradable holiday items. For prices on things such as partyhats or santas, please head to the Buying/Selling Items section.

I AM CURRENTLY ADDING THE PRICES. PLEASE BE PATIENT. I WILL ALSO BE ADDING THE WIKI LINK TO EACH ITEM (via hyperlink). IF YOU DISAGREE WITH A PRICE I PUT OR HAVE THOUGHT OF ANOTHER ITEM PLEASE TELL ME IN THE SECTION BELOW. I WILL ALSO PROBABlY INCLUDE PICTURES OF EACH ITEM SOON. ANY HELP WITH PRICE FINDING WOULD BE MUCH MUCH MUCH APPRECIATED.



What is a Discontinued Item?
A discontinued item is any item that was once available (via GE or not) in RuneScape, but was taken out of the game by Jagex. Many items that are discontinued are completely taken out of the game. Even if you have the item banked or equipped, if Jagex is clearing the items existence, it will be removed. But, there are many discontinued items that were not taken out of the game entirly but instead were made unavailable. Any player who had these items before they became unavailable, will still have that item.

What is a Holiday Item?
A holiday item is any item that is rewarded for taking part of and/or finishing a holiday event. Most holiday items are untradable with the exception of a select few (P-hats, Pumkins, etc.) that won't be listed here due to the fact that there is a section devoted for just those items.

How do we sell these items if they are untradable?
The only way (at least without finding a bug) is to sell the account that has the discontinued/holiday item on it. I know what you are thinking, HELL NO, I am not selling my main even though it has a bunch of holiday items on it. Well, tough luck. The most commonly traded accounts with discontinued/holiday items are low level accounts that do not have high skills affecting the accounts price. So any high level skills on the account will most likely affect the price by less than you expect. This is because the buyer is not wanting to buy the account itself, they are wanting to buy the account for the item that is on it. If the value of your skills outweighs the value of the item you want to sell, you should sell the account for its skills and add the rares value to the final price.

They honestly dont really affect the accounts value....

 

Exactly, that is why I said this thread is just for the price of the rares alone..

What is impossible? The list? I disagree. Once I do a little more research an with the help of sythe members, I can make this list pretty damn accurate.

 

Punker's right. There's not a hard value for each of these specific holiday rares. And it's not like a level 138 with an easter ring is worth 5m more than a 138 without one. There gets to be a point where rares really do not add any value to an account.

Now I guess we can assume that these holiday rares are on a very low-stat account, but even then, most rares are not ones people are interested in.

Here's what I would keep on your list:

Scythe
Ears
9 hp
War ship (debatable really, no one seems to want these anymore)
Username login
Veteran cape
Veteran cape 10 yrs

I have yet to see anyone who's like "hey guys, I'm really in the market for an account with a marionette". After 2005, there were a significant number of people playing runescape such that these rares are not very rare at all.

Just my two cents

 

You example, the marionette would be placed under the "No Market for this yet"... Also, this thread will take a LONG time to complete. I will work on it when i get the time. It should not be used as a reference, but more of just giving you a suggestion on what to pay.

Sorry mate. Even if you do compile this, it will only hurt the market. Don't bother.

If you STILL aren't convinced, I'll make a post explaining how accounts work later. I really don't want to, and if I must, I'll be very agitated, but I don't want you to waste your time with this. Accounts are a sticky subject and these types of things will never work. A for effort though.

 

With no luck of finding averag prices on any of these rares. I am closing this thread.
