New job. 3 weeks 0 days off wtf.

So i started a new job. This week i had sat and sunday off but when i got to work my boss came in my office and told me he really needs me to get up to speed asap so i work all weekend. Next week i dont have a day off and he said mabe ill have off tuesday the week after next. Wtf. 8 hr shifts and tons of work. How can i do this? He told me "this is why i hired you" i am going to die help me. Isnt this illegal.

 

Not illegal, normal for an office job. Hopefully you have a nice Cube by the window. Just don't jump through it.

Here in the UK 8 hours shifts are fine if it's your proper job. It's very normal to work over 8 hours in-fact.

If you like the job then keep at it, try to keep to his standards and he will recognize you! Do all the work you need to do and hopefully you'll be able to get a promotion

Also, if the job is very demanding, or too demanding for you then maybe it's the wrong job. If you enjoy it then it's probably the right job. No employer likes to see his/her employees have time off because they're paying you for work you're not actually there doing, so I can understand him taking you aside and telling you to get up to speed. In fact that's very respectable of him instead of him just firing you or waiting until he's had enough and then just firing you.

You must take your job serious and put in 110%. Try to take his criticism on board and work above it if you can. It's good to see that you worked all weekend to try and get back in his good books

I just started this job and i get all my work done each day. I do a good job and always put in 110% we got a bunch of new clients thats why he wants me to get up to speed. That and i find myself bringing work home and staying up late. Im a crab ass and i dont even have the energy to make love with my girl. This is the end for me i feel like. Work is my doom. I feel like getting drugs to stay afloat.

For the taking work home part try to talk to your boss and tell him exactly what you've just told us. You're having to stay up until silly hours and really have no time in your social life. Have a read over your contract and see whether or it entails working after hours to get work done. I know in most jobs you have to work at home sometimes to finish work off but it sounds like you have a lot on your plate. Try speaking to him and be reasonable just be honest and nice.

Don't take drugs and work isn't the be all end all! If you really hate your job try looking for another one. Just because you just got the job doesn't mean you have to stay there

Don't start taking drugs because your current job is demanding too much of you. Is it something with economics you do? If you give us some more information we may be able to help. If it is indeed some investments/portfolio job, you'll get better hours the longer you work there. If this is what you want to do, work your way up but make sure you don't get ripped off.

And finally, if you really don't like it, don't do it. Go do something else and even though you may earn less money, doing something you like is so much more important than thousands of dollars.

 

Just keep up the hard work and you'll be rewarded. Don't do anything like quitting, it's hard to find a job in this era so be thankful you have one.

 

The money is really good. But i want to be active in my familys life. I also want to give them the world. I never had nothing growing up. I lived on oatmeal and water. So i guess ill just hammer it out. When i snort a few perks i could work all week easy. So im going to buy some. When i need time off ill just lie and tell them granny died. What i do at work is deal with investments i also lure in new clients. Im 26 years old btw. Thanks for listening to my rant. Time for work.

3 weeks without a holiday isn't all that bad, you know. Some office jobs only get a few days on national holidays and a week in the Summer. 8 hours isn't horrible either. 9 til 5 is common practice, and some people work even 13 or 14 hours. This is just what work's like, get used to it xD!

 

I'm sorry but you're complaining about working 8 hours? Be happy you have a job, a lot of people are out of work.

I work 8 hours a day minimum, after that, I stay as long as it takes for me to finish my work.

I work most Saturdays because I have stuff to get done, granted it's only for about 4 or 5 hours on Saturday.

 

I work 8 hours a day 7 days a week. That is crazy to me. I have worked 12 hour shifts but i had 3 off 4 on 5 on 2 off. Anyways im in my car atm on lunch. Its fucking hot in my office and im swamped. This one peace of shit fly wont stop landing on my nose. Anyways fml

 

You're getting paid over time right? I don't know how it is where you live but here in California it's the law that anything over 8 hours a day or 40 hours a week has to be paid time and a half.

 

Unless you're underage it's perfectly legal I have a friend who works at a factory and they have a mandatory 90 days straight work 8hrs a day and you can get up to 12 if you ask for it. huge pay but lots of work, welcome to the real world my friend.

lol obviously not if you haven't ever had to do this before its typical of most jobs other than like fast food minimum wage jobs and even then there are exceptions.

 

honestly man you're 26, working an office job for 8 hours a day, 7 days a week. if you were working construction job or something really physical, then maybe i'd understand that you're tired & need a break, but come on. there are kids in china who work in factories for 12+ hours a day, 7 days a week assembling shit all day. it could be way worse.

hell you could be stuck in a mcdonalds working 8 hour shifts everyday. man up, take a 5 hour energy or have a cup of coffee if you're tired, and remember you're doing it for your family. & stay away from drugs. even adderal and ritalin & that shit. seriously, you sound like a 14 year old saying that you drugs to keep afloat..
