Enough With The Finn Ban Discussion >_<

I'm starting to get sick of everybody discussing Finn's ban.
It's happened, he's gone. He's got what he deserved.
Yes, he did go full-retard by abusing his powers and breaking the rules. Bur is that all he did?
Let's not forget that he DID do good for the site; it's not like he bought his promotions. At least for that part, he should be remembered. But with all the crap going on after discussion of his ban became okay,
everybody forgot that he wasn't admin for no reason.

Seriously, let's look at ourselves in a third-person perspective. Are we being rational, or are we letting emotions cloud our judgements? Among those who are bashing Finn at the moment doing so because he's an absolute scum who did nothing for the sote, or is it because of personal feelings against Finn? Or ate they just jumping on the hate bandwagon because everybody else seems to be doing it?

We are supposed to be a rational and civilized community. There are many members of Sythe debating world-issues such as Euthenasia, abortion and the death penalty in the SFA forum. We debate about justice and how is it possible that it is done rationally? This is because we are looking at these issues in a third-person perspective.

If the Finn ordeal that we have were something from another community, we would have thought that the ban was justice enough for his wrongdoings, and that the bad talk going on even after his ban was unfortunate.

So to summarize everything that I said..

Please let's disallow discussion of Finn's ban... He got what he deserved, and that's the end of it.
He's done good for the community, too and should be recognized for that, as well.
People will start bandwagoning on a subject that they don't know of. Isn't that the type of behavior that we are usually in opposition of?
When word goes from mouth to mouth, it is normal for some facts to be exaggerated. Thus, we'll have incorrect rumours about Finn flyin around. Does he deserve more damage to his reputation?

He's something of the past. Let's let the past stay in the past, we have a better Finn-leas future in front of us. There's no reason to stir the pot, is there?

Note: I am fairly aware of the amount of flame that I can get for this.
But if you do, you'll probably do it because everybody else is doing it, too.
If you do and you're among the first to reply, it'll be because nobody is defending my points, yet.

Bandwagoning; human psychology sure is interesting, isn't it?

It happens for everyone's ban. There's really not that much discussion about it... Other than the ebook debunk threads (two of them), and possibly in the spam forum.

Please link me if you see other recent discussions about it to prove me wrong. Everyone is forgetting about it and moving on, not sure why this thread is necessary. If anything, you're starting discussions about him again.

I don't agree with you, but I don't disagree with you either. The only reason those threads on his retarded ebook were made were to get rid of any rumours that would float around if they weren't addressed by the admins.

You can't really make a suggestion to stop people from talking about him, sure you can rant, but you can't really stop people's free speech on someone. Unless you're saying you want the word 'Finn' added to the censor or something, then this isn't really a real suggestion.

Just ignore it if it all bothers you, it'll die down eventually.

Actually, correct ME if I'm wrong, but ban disussion and/or discussion of banned people was previously disallowed on the forum, but suddenly with Finn banned, it all seems to be okay because it was Finn, which I am saying is irrational.

And by harm, I meant bandwagoning. People who barely know about what happened just join the Finn-hate gang based on what they've heard, only, and it could lead to exagerrated discussion. Of course people will be discussing it offsite anyways, but disallowing Finn discussion would at least lessen the amount of unnecessary hate going on.

I guess that I just found it ridiculous that some users who debate like gentlemen without using their own emotions in arguments in the SFA forum got emotional when discussing Finn in other forums :p

    Edit:
    Laptop:
Well, it's no longer a freedom if it's harming the objective. Here, we gave a case of possible defamation based on emotions, and you could be sued for for that if this were not the internet.
At least, I think that it's like that in most countries.

Of course, we can't do anything about people talking about it in private manners (off-site), but we can sure do something about it on-site (the public)
    :)

and once again, I feel like ban discussion has been allowed again. Or is that lkmited
to certain threads like the ones regarding the ebook?

If so, the my suggestion would be changed to deleting anything emotionally aggresive against Finn to be deleted, if they haven't een already.

Like I said, please post links to the threads where his ban is being discussed (recent ones). Since you completely ignored my post, let me also re-iterate what I stated: this thread only generates more discussion about him, and does not help in the slightest. I haven't seen any discussion about him other than the ebook debunk thread, and spam forum (where ban discussion is allowed now).

There would be no point in banning it, people would still ask about him and talk about him anyway, ie; "where did [name here] go?", the IRC and of course the spam forum. It would be dumb to ban ban discussion on one single user.

And ban discussion was only banned before in the spam forum, although the rule on this has changed so you are allowed to discuss it, provided it's kept mature and controlled.

It's just natural and will die down eventually, as it already has. We're not going to put a ban on someone's name though.

No. We either ban all discussion or ban no discussion (unless it gets out of hand).
