What is the point of botting?

Well, you gotta accept the fact that there are many lazy people on earth mate That's just how it is. People may be paying for the quests or something but leveling is something that is dreaded by everyone, including me(although I don't bot, I still hate training) I find leveling boring sometimes because you do the same things over and over again. How is that fun and enjoyable? I mean quests are fun and enjoyable but can only be done if you meet the requirements(for example, 70 theiving or whatever). Your gonna have to constantly steal and steal repetitively for an extremely long time(depending on your level) . Eventually, it would get boring and one would want to go on and do other stuff. On the other hand, he or she still wishes to level up without effort. That's why many people use bots. I hope I answered you question

 

Yeah, being honest most of Runescape is repeatedly clicking the same 3 things for hours on end. In my opinion this isn't really fun, that's why i used to bot. It lets you get higher levels so you can actually play the fun parts of the game like minigames and PVP. You can also make a fair bit of money out of it.

 

why would you want to click over 1,000,000,000,000 times on something in the 1st place? answer that and you'll answer whats the point to botting.

 

I think what he is getting at you feel more pride in your self when you do it legitly, then getting it from a bot.

I dung a lot, and dungeoneering calls on all skills. Bots get my skill levels up so that I can enjoy dunging more.

 

Gold farming for me, and many others, mainly.

 

I agree with this man, i botted all the slow/boring/money making skills so i had free money, those skillcapes, and could do the fun things in the game.

Indeed, who gives a flying fuck if you earned your skillcape.

 

I don't bot, I did bot once upon a time, but I got about 300m, and I didn't earn anything from it. Personally, I feel people who bot are missing a great game that they're ignoring, true; it tends to drag on at some points. But when you don't do it yourself, I find your losing out.

 

If the xp rate was multiplied by like 10 I would probably play legit but it's simply to much time to get the levels you want legit to make a maxed main or good pure. I mean it takes months even when your botting 15-20 hours a day, it's just insanely time consuming.

 

OP: In my eyes, you explained yourself already.. You say games are meant to be played to be enjoyed.. I personally only enjoy certain aspects of RS.. Why would I waste my life on things I find annoying and tedious when I don't have to?

 

why not bot while your not online? raise stats when you cant play anyways.

What are you botting for? Pvm? Pvp? Being a high level? I'll tell you the truth, it's no more fun at a high level than it is low/medium.

It's achieving levelling skills/quest and such that people enjoy. The enjoyment is in the journey, not the destination.

If you don't enjoy the game, don't waste your time/money/effort, go play something else (hint: don't choose a mmo).

Everyone I knew that botted to high levels no longer plays.

Edit: And lol at people botting for skillcapes, they're ugly as fuck :S

Edit2: Also can someone explain me why boss hunting is fun, stuff like bandos looks like such a grind tbh I can't imagine why people would bot grind skills so they can grind bosses.
