Instant Approval of Donations (Community Feedback needed)

Although I have already suggested this to Matthew (MONTHS ago) and he said it would be done(In VB4 most likely), I wanted some community feedback.

I have seen this is an issue that, for me at least, is irrational.

To contextualize some users on how a bond works, the process is quite simple right now. I send X amount to Matthew (Through Paypal in my case) And he then approves my bond payment within 2-4 days. Now I have X money in my bond and I can take X+$100 (I have $100 tolerance) donations from users iny any method I want to offer.

Okay, now once I user gives me RSGP/PA/LR/PP or whatever, I apply the donation to that user. The problem resides on the fact that the donation is already paid (In my case, I've paid over $4000 already to Sythe, the $3000 record was posted in SytheMonthly in March if I'm not wrong?) by me.

The users should get the donation approved instantly, just like in Paypal. Also, in my consideration (Given that I consider myself trusted and reliable) is safer to accept donations with Bond, as I won't chargeback ($4000 proof can't be refuted).

I would also like to ask users (Again) for new methods they would like to see in the Donation Center (Official or un-official) to further increase the availability of donating to Sythe.

Instant approval of donations would be very useful. For one, I want to donate some to Sythe.org and would appreciate it if I had that nice rank instantly rather then waiting a couple days.

Yeah, I know the few times I've donated I've had to wait several days for it to be applied, should be immediate like it is on MMOE

 

Is there some sort of issue preventing the donation from being applied directly by you? Or is it just Matthew's choice to have control over it. If there are no technical issues, I definitely support this.

 

The Black Tux would have to be given access to the acp if he were to apply them directly, furthermore it is unsafe and TBT will never be given this access unless he becomes an admin.

 

I support this. I was considering making a donation, but I've come to realize that the rank may take awhile to be applied onto my account.

 

That's definitely a huge issue, and I doubt it's worth Matthews time to figure out how to make that ability without using ACP

No, I apply the donation directly, the problem is that it goes "pending".

Just like PP donation are instantly with PP's IPN, the same can be done for bond-processed donations.

As I just mentioned, it's nothing to do with ACP, rather DC.

 

So you're telling me you can modify peoples usergroups(donation only) through an external PHP script Matthew has made?

 

No, I can add the donation to your history(And you'll see it, and get an automatic PM). The approval process (Which is already coded and can be copied and pasted[To an extent] to the bond-processed donations) is done when he approves my applied donation.

For it to be instant then he would have to be removed from the process which gives you the power to change peoples donator usergroups.

 

I hate to point out the elephant in the room, but a $4000 clean track record is virtually zero compared to what many Sythe users have handled safely. Many bigger fish have handled much higher sums and decided to retire with a big scandal. I'm sorry but I doubt Matthew will ever give anyone enough power to commit this kind of donations scandal, regardless of their track record--unless he has some way to make you criminally liable (which he doesn't).

Support, great idea and the thought about instant Approval means more donations altogether.

 

I support it too. Few times I wanted to give little donations after a successfull trade on sythe. But as process is little long and complicated I never done it :s

 

First: I can't see any other viable methods to donate to Sythe other than the ones you provide. Playerauctions and RSGP donations alone generally allow the entire of Sythes population to donate in some way. I'm somewhat surprised you even take the time to handle Liberty Reserve, but props to you for it

Secondly: I honestly can't see why these donations aren't approved instantly. You've already paid Matthew the bond, essentially as soon as the bond goes through to him that's the donation (I assume you aren't really allowed to get the bond refunded.) Matthews already said he'll do this for you later though, so I don't really see any problem with it. Any ideas on why it's taking so long for it to be implemented?

Slightly off-topic, does anyone know if vB4 is around the corner? Or still a little while off?

 

vB4 has been near ready for some time now. Richard just needs some freetime to finish it up.
