Don't go to college for anything but for the degree. We know nothing about your dad's business, but don't you need any knowledge to work for him? Figure out what kinda work you will be doing, and get a degree that may help you. If you really have no idea and are certain that you're future is secured, go for PR or something. Always helpful.

Having a degree will greatly benefit you. Most places will not hire you unless you have a certain degree. A degree is what guarantees you great pay with great benefits.

If you're going to university in the uk which i assume you mean, the first year will be partying, but be prepared to work your ass off, I hope you do get into further education and do something you really enjoy, goodluck, if you do come to london and have any troubles, pm me and ill try my best to help you out.

Do what you want to do, if you want to work with your dad and are happy doing that for X amount of years do it, and then move on from that, or get educated in something you really enjoy or are really interested/passionate about, don't let other people make your decisions for you either, make them yourself, just do what you want to do, you can do anything you want.

What would i do, I'd take the chance to go and study in another country, I'd work my ass off like i already do, have a good time and do as much as i can do while i was there.

To the first person: It's all about franchising, he has over 40 agencies from around the world, and supplies whatever is needed for eg. Fencing, seats, labour etc...

to mage3158: there was a time 5 years ago where my dad went bankrupped, and it was his fault for trusting people who were not to be trusted.

He spent 2 years in a cubicle after that, manually doing work, and now 5 years later, is very successful, and my older brother just joined the business, so things are pretty secure.

TBH. theres no way the company is going under.

Try askin what degree Gave Newell or Mark Zuckerburg has. They don't have one; they both dropped out of Harvard and started their own businesses. Valve Coorperation and Facebook.

No you don't necessarily need a degree, but that's if you're happy doing what you are doing now.

Even if you do end up in your dad'a company, I'd recommend that you get a degree in commerce or whatever your dad's company does.

It'll make it easier for you when you do join :p

You said it yourself, you don't even care for the degree. Ultimately it will just become a piece of paper if you aren't gonna use it, might aswell wipe your ass with it to save on toilet paper.

You may enjoy your times at college a bit, but you will simply be accruing a large student debt and not having any income. You will then be paying it off working in your dads business for quite a while before you can even contemplate doing something for yourself.

Go and join your dad's business, work there for a while (I'm assuming its decent pay & or you enjoy it) and you will either enjoy it or have a lot of cash. If it is enjoyment, you will feel good working there. If it is cash, you will feel great retiring early in life and having lots of cash to do all the things you've always wanted to do.

As for the girls part, girls don't give a shit about a piece of paper that says you can do this or that. As long as you are a nice person to know, that's all that matters.

But we don't know how things are in the mid east :p
By that, I mean their parents might pay for college tuition.
That's how it is in asian countries lol

I think that studying and earning a degree in what he will be doing in his father's company will be a good idea, if this is the case :p

If working with your dad is gonna make you alot of money and eventually inheriting the business you might as well just work with your dad otherwise go get a degree and and do something you'll enjoy. Your gonna be stuck with it for the rest of your life.

    Life & Getting A Degree

A degree is very useful, but only if you know in specifics what you want to do because they can take long amounts of time to get, depending on your current academic achievements. If you're unsure then I'd just choose the easy option and work for your dad, you're not gonna get fired from it unless you do something really outrageous and he'd probably be more generous with sick days and pay than most employers. To most businesses you'd just be a wage and a number, but to your dad you're a key player in the team.
