What is the point of botting?

People pay and bot due to not wanting to gain level legitly. Some poeple want levels to do certain activities such as pking or gwd, but do cannot be bothered to gain the levels. Lets think this out if you play one hour a day it's going to take a long time to get a 99 however if you bot 8 hours it will be 8x quicker.

People that have bot farms and farm gold have done this:

Normal players who bot skills hardly affect the economy... Most bot levels rather than rsgp therefore they hardly affect prices.

 

If we want to pay to play a game, then I don't see why you should criticize us for paying for the game. Us paying is giving Jagex funds so they may run the game.

If players find botting to be enjoyable, then that's their way of playing the game.

And yes, it does give me pride to run around with a skillcape that I, in fact, did obtain. If I hadn't obtained the skillcape, the skillcape wouldn't exist now would it?

The bot nuke will not ruin anything, and the economy was already ruined in the first place.

 

need to be maxed to get into a good pvm clan and i don't want to spend hours getting the skills needed, although i enjoy monster hunting, that's why i bot.

It's so true that because he buys gold, he's practically contributing to the problem himself. Basically encouraging botting by paying someone who botted. As many others have said it's just easier to let the computer do it by itself when you're asleep or at work or even just having fun doing something else.

 

Botters don't just bot for the sake of paying for botting, they bot because they want higher levels to participate in activities. What they find fun in the game requires lots of non fun time to reach it. So what do they do? Bot to get rid of the not fun time.

 

The point of botting is simple, MMO games have fun aspects of them such as PvP and killing high end boss monsters, in order to do that stuff however you must first endlessly waste your life away in front of the computer to get what you need to do this. The solution is to let the computer do the endless monotonous grinding while you go and enjoy your life elsewhere and then when you come back you can enjoy the fun parts of the MMO for however long.

Botting also allows you to gain more items/gold when you would be otherwise incapable of doing so (sleep), you can then sell these items or gold and make real money off of it.

 

First of all I never stated it was fun, nor did I criticize any of you for botting, I asked questions, for those who try and flame me I just laugh at you, we all play a game that was origionally developed for a young age.

As an ex gold farmer and a player who has risked his own main with botting, I will give you an insight why i botted to the levels which i did , max level and top 300 runecrafters.

I used to love playing this game before they took free trade and the wild out it was fun, i thought people who botted (little amount at that time, not including the yew and fishing bots etc) after the removal of pvp and free trade two things i loved to do merch and pk, where gone. I then became focused on pvm, however with my levels and been at an age where schooling was a priority. I choose to bot, at the risk of lossing a fun way to spend my free time. If worst came to worst I would not longer play why waste my time when two major parts of the game i enjoyed have been taken away. I botted and got my 2nd 99. After this i started to invest my money into other scripts and from rsbots,net i was able to get 99 runecrafting and with all other scripts a few other 99's. I personally regret botting and wish i had just quit and came back with the renewal of free trade and pvp. Runescape is and has not been enjoyable for many years, I love pvm, however I do not deserve the account i have. You have came to wrong site to look for people who will say botting is wrong, IMO I have an account I dont deserve and a cash pile to match, however the thrill of runescape which I used to died the day they removed free trade and wild. Runescape is a lot like life you can cheat some times, and get huge rewards but then some times the battle, the grind is the journey and that is more enjoyable then the destination. Excuse spelling and grammer been a very long day

I got 94 woodcutting legit, because people used to be friendly, and it was fun to talk to them. But I haven't trained my woodcutting in 5-6 years, it's now sitting on 95, and will probably stay that way.

 

Yes, and in the case of runescape, "endlessly" is quite correct. I know no other where you have to spend hundreds/thousands of hours to get to max level.

Granted, in wow (just an example) you have to be max level to enjoy most of the content. Runescape is more about the actual journey, as it does not really have endgame content. Somwhere along the way people stopped seeing that. I like to think it all started with skillcapes, but whatever.

 

I bot my account because I have the intentions of selling it some time in the future. If it gets banned oh well if it doesn't then I will get a better price the more I bot..

 

I think the point is that we pay to enjoy playing a game, we don't pay to grind for hours.
Whilst I enjoy bossing, I don't want to waste my time making endless potions, so my bot does it for me.

 

Well, some people bot just to sell the accounts on, so they are still making some money. Others are just lazy and probably will have fun once they botted x skill up to x level.

Well, you sound mad. Some people that bot do also PLAY the game. But they might need high skill levels to do what they want to do on the game, to play and enjoy it. And they might not have the time to.

 

It's a direct result of the game's inherent flaws. As it stands now, RuneScape is well on its way to a major rehaul, or it won't last the times. With that said though, some bot for the heck of it, so it's not really accurate to lump everyone in the same category.

For me, it's a live and let live situation. I can't exactly blame the players for getting frustrated about the drudgery that you have to go through for even the smallest of accomplishments. Try getting a 99 playing only an hour a day and you'll know what I mean.

 

People only tend to bot the things in the game the don't enjoy..

Who gives a flying fuck if you 'earned' your skillcape.
