I don't understand why everyone is hating on Jagex for trying to make some extra money. They aren't forcing you to buy squeal of fortune spins, or whatever else they might sell.

 

Its because they used to gloat about how they would never accept micro transactions, and never even remotely take part in real world trading. Also people just like having something to do and for those who play rs its to flame jagex for rwting where they said they never would.

Some notes I took:
NOTE: I might have some wrong information in here but I'm pretty sure I heard everything correctly.
- Mark Gerhard just mentioned that they are working on RuneScape 3.
- RuneScape was in terminal decline from 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and started to grow again in 2011. This year RuneScape has been growing consistantly
- Over 80% of the players are using the Squeel of Fortune daily.
- They are looking for better ways to advertise microtransactions on the main page
- The whole idea of the SoF was to bring in a whole range of resources into the game
- According to Mark Gerhard you can't just grab your creditcard and buy spins to get xp lamps
- Number #1 option to add the convert-to-coins option on SoF was to add convenience to unwanted items
- More microtransactions? No, just Squeel of Fortune and Solomon's Store with new additions.
- Can you re-assure that you can't the best armor from the Solomon's Store or Squeel of Fortune? Yes, they can assure that you won't be able to buy something like an uber spell.
- Player suggested microtransactions will most likely be going to added in the future.
- Next week there will be a ********** about bots
- HTML5 opens up a lot of new options such as tablets
- Revolutionary anti-botting stuff coming online soon
- They have been watching the movements/actions of the bots for the last three months to improve their anti-botting update
- 15% of the team is working on microtransaction updates
- Mark Gerhard does not like advertising outside RuneScape such as google ads. They are looking for other ways of advertising.
- Constantly mentioning the "doubling of the team's size"
-Mark Gerhard would love to add mounts to RuneScape, but they are not working on it at the moment.
- They thank everyone for playing RuneScape and being passionate (?).

I don't really believe them when they say no more Microtransactions in the future, they've lied to us before.

Sounds like Runescape will be changing a lot in the near future. Not sure if that's good for current players, however, i'm guessing that a lot of new people will start playing.

 

Yeah, seeing the EoC as well as the transition to HTML5 it looks like they're really changing this game. Kinda like they're trying to update it to look like a lot of the other big MMO's :/

Considering they'll have HTML5 available to them, I'd expect a really heavy graphic update.
