The cure vs. The smiths

Long story short i was talking to an old friend about some of our guilty pleasures when an argument happened..
The age old question of who is better the smiths or the cure ...

i initially was fighting tooth and nail for the cure ... i just LOVE the cure but i also love the smiths ..
(we are talking vintage 70-80s stuff only please)

its basically robert smith vs. morrissey which is fucking hard too ..
im still leaning towards the cure as i listen to them more but would love to hear some other peoples opinions on them.
for me its disintegration>anything the smiths did

 

I prefer the Cure.

If you want this debate more lively, you should upload some songs so that others can compare them.
I'll bet right now 90% of sythe don't know both those bands.

 

hahaha people will just rip on them if they havent heard them before id rather not deal with "they both suck" kind of smart ass answers, i am dumbfounded at the complete lack of response here ...

the cure and the smiths are both a kind of acquired taste but yeah lol whats your favorite cure album ?

 

The Smiths everytime, one of my all time favourite bands who I never get sick listening too!

thats one of my favorite smiths songs!! i love the smiths a whole lot for the punk sensibilities to their music, i was and always will be a punk rock fan and they have a harder edged sound than the cure for the most part. I just still find myself still listening to the cure more this is one ive been listening to alot since i kinda wore out disintegration if thats even possible..


I love this smiths song too but who doesnt,

smiths always got that kinda bouncy funky bass love it .

 

the way I feel about both bands is pretty much the same; they've both got songs I really like, and then they have songs I really do not.
If I had to choose though I'd go with the Cure. Wish is a great album

 

I feel the same way, thats why i mentioned in my OP that im talking vintage 70s and early 80s stuff, wish is a great album but ive mainly been into disintegration and bloodflowers lately
