Mods luring us out!

I was playing a private server, and someone was advertising to buy that games gp for rsgp. They would go first. Thought it was to good to be true, figured I would give it a go. I went to check out the meeting spot on my account, because I didnt tell him my name yet, cause he or she logged off the private server, it turned out to be a moderate of rs waiting at that spot, on a free to play world. I played it cool. And walked away, before he realized it was me wanting to "trade". I havent went into detail, just incase that mod ends up reading this. He will know it was me, and be able to ban me lol. This is my warning to everyone. Careful who you trade with! Use a nub stakeout account.

 

He wouldn't be able to ban you.

 

If it's a Jagex mod he will, they'll ban you unjustifiable and not think twice, however, i highly doubt you were "lured" by a mod, especially if you're claiming this was a JMod.

 

I would go into detail, I'm just scared that he might read this, because mods do surf skype once in awhile.

 

jagex mods will for sure not play on a p server lol, they should (should!) have better things to do

a normal rs mod are ppl like you and me, and a few doesn't have anything better to do

 

This isn't Skype, nor is he going to find your RuneScape username via this forum.

 

How did you know he was a moderator? If your spot was with no one around, was he just speaking to himself so you saw his crown? Or did he have MOD in his name, as in a Jagex moderator?

 

He will realize the story and be like, its this guy!. And I think he was just an average player mod.

 

one unasked question; did you know his name? are you sure the mod was him?

 

Player mods cant get you banned for wanting to buy rsgp lol. Don't worry about it.

 

All player mods can do is mute you for 2 days.
And... that's it. But wouldn't it have been the mod who was breaking Runescape's rules as well?

 

Nor do i believe they're going to waste their time monitoring this site, i'm 99% confident you're safe.

 

They played on mine. Matter of fact they reverse engineered my client, lol.

 

I find that extremely hard to believe, a Jagex mod played and help you with your server? Although it's a conflict of interest and they frown up anyone starting their own server and try to shut down servers alike from the actual game, they helped you?

 

reverse engineered would be them breaking down the source of the client and trying to figure out from where it was leaked i would assume, not helping them. Jagex more than likely trys to reverse engineer alot of private servers to find out who is leaking their shit, i dont find it hard to believe at all

 

/sigh Before I reply, I'll give you one bit of advice: Please actually read what is posted that you are replying to before posting.

Never, anywhere in his post did he say that Jagex helped him. He was essentially explaining in short that J Mods played his RSPS to check it out, and then reverse engineered the client to see what kind of work he did on it.

Also, in order to actually legally shut someone down or sue someone for copyright infringement, you have to actually prove that they are infringing. An example of finding proof would be reverse engineering an RSPS client for similarities in source code, etc, etc.

 

You guys are wacky. What if the two people were totally unrelated? Or what if the guy just made up the story?

I'm sorry but I'm going to have to call troll. No Jagex mod would ever waste their time on a private server in hopes of luring out kids on a pserver.
