Counter strike server help!

Hi everyone I planned on making my Counter strike source and running it from my computer, I download all the files needed, make a server.cfg file go thru everything and I can access my server from the LAN section of CS server menu and no the Internet one where other people can play it as well. How come? If anyone can please help I'd really appreciate it, please PM me or add me on Skype/MSN. Thank you very much, if you know how to set up steam servers please help!

Keep in mind if you do this you will probably get lag on your server though.
