Your thoughts on Asians?

Hey Sythe, a real curious question, what are your thoughts on
Asian people? I'll be moving over to the states next week from Malaysia so I'm really interested to see what people think of Asians like any stereotypes or such?

I have nothing against them. In fact, some of my very good friends are Asian. You'll fit in here just fine, and make friends easily i hope

I have nothing against Asians, or people from any from any race. I think majority of people don't care about the colour of your skin now'a'days. There are always a few that still maintain such prejudices, but you should ignore them as they're likely shit people to know anyways.

Asians typically have a distinct smell different from those of other cultures. Their houses smell different probably due to their diets and what not. They tend to be more picky as to what other people they hang out with. For example it is much more common to see a large group of 50 Asian friends together than it is to see 50 white friends together. I would not enjoy living in a predominately Asian area

 

This applies to most different cultures and does not apply only to Asians, I didn't is possible to think people could be more picky as we are right now about friends though :/.

Honestly everyone's house "smells different". There's not just a generic Asian smell that comes from Asian farts smelling like dumplings or something. White-people houses smell weird to Asian people too.

This picky thing is completely misunderstood. People--ALL people--hang out with people of similar backgrounds and interests. Have you ever been to a tailgate? That's a very commonly-occurring instance of 50+ white people in a group.

So no, Asian people don't inherently smell weird and they aren't all segregated bigots. You know what Asian people really are?

Hard-working. So many Asian people come to this country with very little and they work their way up and start a family and work very very hard so their children can go to a good college and have opportunities that they didn't.

Asians consistently perform the best on standardized tests when scores are broken down by race. As a result, they have a harder time getting into college because colleges simply expect more of them.

"Another study by the Center for Equal Opportunity, a nonprofit group opposed to racial preferences in college admissions, found that Asian-Americans at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, had median math and reading SAT scores of 1370 out of 1600, compared with 1340 for white students, 1250 for students of Hispanic descent and 1190 for black students."

"Thomas J. Espenshade, a sociologist at Princeton and the author of “No Longer Separate, Not Yet Equal: Race and Class in Elite College Admission and Campus Life,” showed in his research that Asian-Americans needed SAT scores that were about 140 points higher than white students, all other quantifiable variables being equal, to get into elite schools."

Unfortunately, Shall Skill's post illustrates some of the many awful and simply inaccurate views held against Asians in this country. Hopefully you won't face such ignorance where you go. I'm very proud of this country but sometimes the citizens can be really disappointing
