Broken Laptop (rsgp)

I have a Compaq junky laptop, it was my wifes step dads, and he gave it to her when she lived with them before we got married. I was gone for a week and i came home tried to turn it on she claims nothing happened, but i have no idea for sure.

It worked perfect before whatever she did to it haha.

I do not know the specs as i can't access them.

Here is all i know about it, it says, start windows normally or in repair, i've tried both after that the screen just goes black and the mouse comes up, but nothing after that i've let it sit there for 30 minutes before nothing happened.

I don't know what my wife's step dad put in the computer, i know he did stuff to it, i can't be for sure, so i can't claim it has any, but it ran runescape just fine.
