Calorie counters/health concious people - My 'Story', Goals and I need tips! :)

Over the past couple of weeks or so I've been trying to get fit. My aim is for summer 2013 to be nice and toned. I'm not 'fat' (I use the term loosely) instead I just want to lose some stubborn body fat and get some muscle tone.

I've been calorie counting over the past few days and I find it really interesting actually finding out how many calories I eat in a day and comparing it to the RDA (recommended daily allowance).

    So far today I've eaten breakfast and lunch and have done some calorie counting. I'd like to share with you;

    Breakfast:
    - 30g of Nesquik cereal with 125ml of semi-skimmed milk - 176 calories

    Lunch:
    - 2 slices of Warburton white sliced bread (113 calories per slice) - 226 calories
    - 100g (one tin) of tuna in brine (drained) - 105 calories
    - 15g Heinz mayonnaise - 100 calories

Total Calorie in-take so far: 607
Recommended Daily allowance: 2000 (on average per adult)
Calories left to eat today: 1393

^ Although the 1393 can have 500 calories taken away from it as I'm trying to stick to 1500 calories per day.

I know drinking has calories too. I drink Robinson's blackcurrant squash quite frequently but it doesn't state the calories it has in each glass so I can't really give any information about that.

(I try to eat fruit too, I don't really like it that much though... Also there's no fruit in the house today as we're going food shopping later on and will pick some up)

So, as you can see I've eaten just under 1/3 of my daily allowance of calories in my breakfast and lunch. Which I think is pretty awesome! I'm trying to limit myself to 1500 calories per day.

I'm 17 years old, male and currently weigh on average 160 pounds.
I'm doing some light weight training, nothing too serious as I want to tone up over a long period of time as my goal is for next May/June so I've got plenty of time. I burn off around 350-450 calories per day just from exercise which is pretty neat (and that's not even a lot of exercise, maybe 30 minutes per day!) I know people burn way way more but as I said this is going to be a long process.

I'm just wondering if anyone else perhaps does this sort of thing, calorie counting. It would be awesome to find some people who do it as well and can perhaps share tips and talk about it. If anyone has any tips such as meals to eat, or even just tips they can give me I would be really grateful! So please share below if you do this type of thing as I'm really interested :)

Thanks and by the way, if anyone wants to talk through PM or anything about this then just shoot me a message. I'm a friendly person so I'd love to talk about it :)

If you want to lose fat. Just go ahead and start doing intense cardio workouts. Don't worry about building mass or pumping iron at the gym because your main concern is to lose that overall body fat. What I would suggest you do is to perform several different HITT workouts within a week.

Do this if you want to loose skin all over your shit.

Ensure that you're eating clean, at a deficit, -500 maintainence cals, doing cardio (but do not over-do it), lifting weights to minimize muscle loss.

The reason why you shouldn't do just cardio is because you'll lose weight too quickly leading to loose skin. Aim to lose 1lb/week.

That's more so my aim mate. To Skipjack you say don't do weights... well that's wrong. I want to build muscle which is still toning, however I don't want to bulk, that's the difference :)

Yeah I'll aim for 1lb a week, sounds like a realistic target and I've given myself a realistic time scale to do it in :)

I might post some progress pics, idk whether anyone would want to see that though...

losing fat the key is doing intense cardio like m100 or cardio/abs at the same time you don't need to pump iron to lose weight go ahead do 30-45 mins cardio everyday also increase your calorie count with some fruit or dried fruits add some shit that shit will make you starve.

I'm trying to tone up, more so than lose weight (which is the reason why I'm doing some small weights). And yes I'm eating fruit daily and I'm not starving on the diet I eat :)

Thanks for the input and advice though

Thanks for the advice :) And haha, nah not lifting anything heavy... just some dumbbell exercises for my chest, arms etc. Probably about 11lbs on each dumbbell so nothing too serious at all :)

I strongly suggest you start lifting.

I understand you want to lose your body fat BUT to do that you need to gain muscle, the best way for you to get toned, ripped and reach your goals is to start getting into the gym and do HIGH INTENSITY CARDIO WORKOUTS. HICW is the best way to get lean muscle and lose body fat at the same time, it is combined with cardio & lifting weights for that nice lean look aka "tone".

Make sure you take at least 2000 calories a day, if you want to reach your goal faster make sure you have protein in all your meals, you need 1G of protein per body pound so you would need about 280g of protein a day.

I believe you can succeed in your goal if you follow these steps, if you want any other additional tips and advice make sure to add me on msn, I can help you to the best of my ability, many resources available I can recommend to you.

It's about quantity. You can have chocolate if you like but it's just how much you have which is the issue... If you looked i'm having a really low in-take of it, and it makes my food taste better so I have it it. Mayonnaise isn't affecting my diet in any way, shape or form. As I've already said It's a low in-take, If I was having the whole jar then that would be a different story... But I'm not :)

Gain muscle/tone. More so tone... I'm eating at around a 200 calorie deficit per day at the moment so over a period of 8 months I will lose some pounds of fat just by doing that. Also, I'm doing some cardio workouts to gain muscle and lose fat :)

I'm sure you've already read that I'm doing weights to make sure I'm not losing muscle and I've actually put some muscle on in my abs/arms/chest which I'm happy about! I'll continue it for as long as I need to hopefully :)
