BTS September - Botany Bay

It's easy to just flame Jagex, but it's a really good move for them to actively include the legitimate Runescape community and make them feel that they are a part of trying to recover the game back from the grips of the botting community. For them it gives them a better image, as opposed to just making an announcement saying we have banned 'x' amount of bots for these people to actually see something happen for once.

 

Lol do you think that you will be able to see yourself being at the botany bay? I mean, watching yourself being judged by the noobs? lol it would be awesome

Will this even stop botting?

 

I can see why they're doing this, they want regular members to see that bots actually are banned in a hope they stop complaining saying that Jagex aren't doing anything about bots.

Nope it will make zero difference. This isn't to stop bots, its for legit players to have a little fun with bots who get caught, before their banned.

Glad to see everyone's making assumptions, seems that confidence is key aye? You'll be PISSED if they've actually come up with the final blow to the botting community. It's easy to assume this is a publicity stunt, but maybe they're so confident in their new detection system that they're going to put on a show for it? It could swing either way, I'm looking forward to it.

So what happens when Jagex's fail bot detection systems fail to detect any bots and Botany Bay is completely empty?

The way this will work is that their new Automated Detection System will automatically send the detected bots to this Botany Bay location, where they will be perm banned. Honestly it's smarter for Jagex to perm ban accounts instead of launching a bot breaking nuke. This way all the accounts they ban will be replaced and have members purchased on the new accounts, meaning more money for Jagex, and the RS community thinks Jagex is doing something about bots.

Honestly, I think it will be hilarious to watch as the legit players are talking shit to these banned accounts, because, after all, the bots are most likely not at the computer because, well, hey, they're botting. It'll probably bring some entertainment to players every once in awhile. I bet overtime it will die down in popularity though, as players get used to it and bored of it.

 

This is one of the dumber things they've done.

 

I'd be all for taking a cut of their bank, lolololol, would probably also ensure that it at least doesn't go dead for a bit('noobs' will pretty much flock there even if the banks aren't worth much.)

I just hope that it works really well; Knowing Jagex, something probably will mess up somewhere and some legit players will get 'thrown on death row' along with the bots.
