Should I Do What I Love?

    To a certain extent.
It's cliché but money doesn't buy happiness...

To be honest only YOU can make this decision. We can just give you personal opinions on what we would do. It all depends on if 3D animation is your passion. By the sounds of it you really want to do it and if I were you I would! Yeah sure 'money buys everything' but if you absolutely hate the job you're doing then you're not really happy...

It depends also on your personal money situation. If you're really struggling, have a GF and plan on starting a family any time soon then I'd recommend working with your dad in his business as you need to pay the bills. However, if you live with your family still then you can 'afford' to maybe lose 3 years if the course really isn't what you fancy doing as a career as you can always fall back into your dads business as a fall-back option.

If you really think the course will make you happy, then do it. But of course you have to look what sort of job you can get afterwards. If the job earns you enough money to pay the bills then sure do it. But if not, then you seriously need to think about income, and find a balance between that and happiness.

I think only you can make the decision. But if I were you I would do what I enjoy as it's a life career.

I hope you make the right decision mate =) Best of luck.

Join your father. You can do your computer work on the side as a hobby, maybe as a career after you're financially secure and the business is running well.

    You're only 20. Stick to what's smart.

I'd say join your dad's for a while and maybe end up using the money from that to start your own business for what you love

Do the 3d Animation, do what you love because time passes faster by doing what you love, maybe you won't be rich but you will still love it.

Well it's up to you. What's more important to you? Doing something you love or earning a lot of money? I'd know it for sure.

Should I Do What I Love?

Doing what you love is always the best option. A lot of people spend their lives making money in a job they don't enjoy or even despise so they can have a great life afterwards. Let's say you retire from your job at 65 with a lot of money. You could die any day. At age 65 or any age. Enjoy yourself, can't take your money with you when you go.

Definitely go with your dad, and working with your dad doesn't mean that you can never do animation, just do it on the side.

Go with your dad. When you earn that much money, you can pay people to make 3D animations for you and claim that you made them yourself. :D

I'm kidding. But really, that's how powerful money is.

To be honest, I was in the exact same boat. I love video games, so I was really inspired to work with 3D graphics at one point in my life. However, now I own a business, and make side projects using RPG Maker XP, just to get my ideas out. Maybe one day I'll try to pursue them :)

I'd rather be safe than sorry. Work with your dad first, get the money, then if you're at a comfortable position in your life, you can always go to vocational school and learn 3D animation. Try to get the best of both worlds.

This. In a year or so if you find yourself not enjoying your fathers work you can surely move into 3D animation then.

Money buys happiness. Happiness doesn't always make money though.

go with your dad, and do your hobby on the side. That kind of money will keep you financially secure and if you ever decide you dont enjoy it, simply make a decent amount to retire on and then pursue your passion
