How much does it really mean to you if a girl/boy you liked gave you a emotion or a person sends you a Emoticon to you via text/ message ect...

When i was 12 they we're cool, i tend not to use them now in real life situations, although i may through in a sad face or happy face :) lol

Honestly though, they mean nothing to me since msn isn't where everyone chats now.

I don't mind it, don't really see the problem behind one. Didn't really understand your question.

That depends what you mean, lol.

If you ask them how they're doing and they say "I'm good :)," it means nothing. If they message you and say "Hey wuttup boi ;)," they're horny and want some of teh dick.

It depends on the emoticon and the message, emoticons can imply more than the text does, but often times it's essentially meaningless.. but the winkyface can be another story.

It really depends, but most likely it's meaningless unless it is a winky face or something along those lines.

It tells me the emotion behind the wording of the text, otherwise I have trouble establishing what mood people are in. Punctuation really helps also. Some people close to me don't use emoticons or punctuation at all in texts and I struggle sometimes.

I really think it means something. I got this girl's number the other day and half her texts involved ":)" at the end of each sentence - when with another girl, she just replies normally without any emoticons and I know she isn't into me.

It can be useful to use them so you get sarcasm and don't take things seriously but as stated above it can let you know when they're after it ;) I don't feel special or anything when I get them, though, doesn't mean anything significant.

Well, to me, it doesn't mean much really. It would not be any difference if a friend sent it to me or if my crush sent it to me. Something as simple as an emoticon doesn't prove anything. It's just too simply you know.. Maybe at the most, if she sends a heart to me, it makes me happy as heart represents love. But then again, a heart could also represent the friendship kind of love. That's my opinion :)

I find they can be good for when talking to friends informally across the internet to personalize the conversation and bring a little bit of emotion to it.

The only ones I use are :) or :p or the occasional ;P depending on who I am texting. Personally though I hate texting, because it is terrible at portraying emotions. Like if I am mad at someone texting them, I feel the only way to get my point across is to swear abundantly, and I hate that.

It adds a little flavor to the convo. I don't use them often - but when I write something interesting I throw one in there.

Emoticons often don't even represent what they are really feeling, so it doesn't mean much to me.
