Powerbot is removing free scripts that compete with premium

Not updating the client for all the people (including myself) that have problems with it, and now removing free scripts.

Good business move, but this will make A LOT of customers very unhappy.
In the end it can only help them though, not hurt them.

Yeah sure they may loose some users (who used free scripts anyways), and they will only gain more people paying customers for the Premium scripts.

Wait they only removed one script? Or all free scripts that compete with premium scripts? I already had to buy premium for iDung then pay another $20 for it. EoC should be here before my premium runs out so o well. I think they see that their business will be coming to a stop shortly so they are profiting as much as possible before it does.

 

Nothing new here they’re just milking the site before the upcoming nuke puts them out of business.

 

It seems only 1 script removed at the moment. But denying the users and community of free scripts is a huge problem. All the scripters that put effort and countless hours of their time for free into scripts for the community will suffer.

 

I understand that but it's powerbot. They've always been money whores so you can't really hold them to hire standards when even since I can remember they have been this way.

 

I'm guessing this massively has something to do with EoC and Jagex's new account safety/anti-bot systems they're implementing. Overall, I think it will help Powerbot out as a company as obviously they'll be rolling in the $$. I use free Powerbot scripts but I'm not really sour about it. For the people who're willing to pay it's great IMO. It means less people like me can just bot whenever they want, and botting will be heavily reduced (I think).

I hope RS never has as many bots as it has now, and hopefully this move by Powerbot (and Jagex) may just help aid that. I'm not saying people shouldn't bot because if I did I would be a Hypocrite. But I think the game as a whole would benefit from less bots.

Powerbot doing this has definitely stopped me from botting as I won't be paying to bot, so there's one more botter removed hahah

It's great business, corner the market and offer a free bot that works well with great scripts to the masses for free/low price. Then once you achieve the desired level of popularity slowly increase the price of the use of the bot.

You cannot blame PowerBot for this, they offered a previously free product for a long while and people took advantage of this with people gaining Runescape levels and gold, even some people achieved a real life monetary gain through gold farming.

It's only fair they protect their product from abuse and continue to expand and make money while they can.

 

they're taking away skilling scripts not goldfarming ones. anyway I would join rarebot it's coming back and it's more friendly.

 

I don't get why people who aren't paying to support them (vip) complain when the free benefits get taken away. They are free which means no one should have room to complain.

 

The scripters are also complaining for getting their free product removed.

Ultimately rsbot's premium selection is not NEARLY good enough to warrant ANY purchases from them.

 

That's why I included people getting levels via the skilling scripts you talk about. People simply cannot complain when something which was free in the first instance is taken away from them, sorry but they haven't done anything for it unfortunately. If people's premium scripts, which they had paid for had been taken away then sure I would understand but at the end of the day it is their client and business and therefore can do what they see fit.

Seriously I think they are god damn brilliant and think this should have happened A LONG time ago.
Shit load of botters use powerbot, and you could easily see that by the amount of Duel-arena staking bots out there in w54 at the day of re-release of salv's boxing bot.

By getting rid from all the free bots - people will be forced to:

1. quit botting since they cant/dont want to pay for bots - means less botting in game - less goldfarming - LESS BOTS.

2. Buy bots just like before the nuke.

Think about it guys, by making this move, there will be less bots ingame, you could easily see that by the amount of players that were online before they limited one bot per one user (about 30k diff).

 

If a free script is far better than a premium script, why buy premium? Now they are FORCING us to buy premium. Hell no!

 

I personally think this is one of those last ditch efforts to suck some more profit out of it before it goes back down for another 6 months. Not really an intelligent business move as they're going to be losing a lot of business. If you take away free scripts then you lose advertising revenue. Why go to the site if you aren't looking for free scripts? Their community is terrible.

 

This sucks. Looks like the fun is coming to an end. I don't mind buying the scripts I use, but I will never, ever give Powerbot my money.

Good to see imo, less botters = more space in prime areas like waterfiends etc. now i can use my premium scripts in peace
