Registered Email Address - Questions

If you are not the original owner of an account but have control of the registered email address is there anyway they can recover the account? All password and email changes will be sent to my email therefore not allowing them to change the password? All answers are appreciated.

 

Unless they contact Runescape to block the account, Then do a manual recovery.

I think the only way they could get it back is if they contact jagex, but apprently even then the odds that jagex is going to do anything about it are pretty slim

 

Awesome thanks. I used to play runescape alot when I was younger and am just getting back into it now. Recovery questions used to be the main form of recovering account back then but now it seems to be email, correct?

 

As long as the email is registered to the account, and hasn't been replaced by another then I'm sure you'll be fine.

When/if you enter a wrong password for an account that has an email registered to it, you'll have the option to recover it. When you enter the log-in name for the account, you'll be taken to this page:



You'll be allowed 6 attempts to enter the correct email for the account. After that, you'll be blocked from any more attempts for 5 minutes (I believe).

If you're successful, they'll send you instructions in an email to the email registered to the account.

Just to clear up my case, an account was given to me and it had no email but it did have recoverys. I registered my email and changed the recoverys but it is going to take awhile for the recoverys to change. Do you think it is safe to put items onto the account? The person I got it from is farely trusted and is a 50 dollar donar on here.

 

It's whatever you feel comfortable with. I personally wouldn't put items/cash on the account so soon but, again that's just me. If you want to make yourself more comfortable, you can always set a Bank PIN for the account.

I should say this: Being a donor doesn't necessarily make you trusted.

 

I know it doesnt make you trusted but he does have a bunch of vouches and what not and I am in full control of the registered email and I am the original creator of the email, therefore there shouldnt be much danger in getting recovered right?

 

If he/she has a fair number of vouches, I wouldn't worry too much. An account can always be recovered, however there shouldn't be much danger if he/she is trusted and all your info is registered to the account.

 

I will tell you something about account recovering okay. Whoever created the account (original owner), played on the account for the first time and the FIRST IP was registered on that account. That person who registered the first IP in that account will always be able to recover it no matter what, no matter if you have all recoveries, previous passwords, e-mail registered, etc. That person will always be able to recover it even though he/she might get the appeal denied at the beginning, he/she will always get it accepted at the end. Trust me. That is why I never buy runescape accounts.

 

How so nickelodeon? You need to know the email it is registered with to even try recovering it....

 

Pretty sure you wouldn't have the same IP since the account was created, DEPENDING on the account. eg. a main. It probably would of changed overtime.

You do and you don't. Two options, if you know the e-mail registered and have control of it, good. BUT, if you fail to provide it you can appeal it on the rs page by filling in the recovery questions. And, what I said before about the account creation

 

This is correct ^ and I did it in under 2 hours last night to recover an account i forgot the email to.

 

You will be fine to put items on the account. Perfectly safe, if, on the rare chance it DOES get recovered, you can easily get it back with your registered email, long enough to get the items off anyway.
