Make a Guild Wars 2 subforum!

I didn't notice any significant change, the activity was decent, but I think members were hoping for activity relating more to the runescape aspect of this site. I wouldn't blame it so much on the game, I mean Minecraft, LoL, WoW, etc. are hugely popular, but their sections aren't. Like I said, I'm fine if the section is added, and if it can be removed if it's not active. I'm just saying, don't get your hopes up for a lot of activity if there isn't proper advertising

 

We're in the process of finalizing the forum; I'll make it live tomorrow. We'll see how it does and whether or not to keep it in action. Here's the suggested layout please provide feedback:

Any suggestions on how to draw in new users? I'll add a discussion section in other games as well.

 

I support the idea, like x339 has already stated several times already, if it doesn't get enough action that Sythe can appreciate simply remove the section all together. If users come to Sythe to see about a GW2 forum and not see one they're NOT going to come back in the future to see if we added one. "Oh Sythe, nah I already looked there they didn't have one". Plus, you can't expect ANY sub forum to just get popular right off the bat, it's going to take time before people start showing up unless you advertise the hell out of it. But have we advertised any of our sub forums? It think not..

 

Great to see that this is getting done ^_^. I really think this will be beneficial for Sythe. I also have some ideas on how to draw people to it.

First we probably should implement a discussion section to go in with that, because if people have a place to discuss it, it's more likely they will stick around and use this forum for GW2 purposes.

Secondly make a Sythe.org News post, and be like "Any Guild Wars 2 players on Sythe, please try to get the word about Sythe out in-game to friends and other players in an effort to expand on the GW2 community on sythe. Any help in getting the word out is greatly appreciated by all of us." or something of that nature. Doing so will hopefully encourage people to get fellow players to come and join the fun on Sythe. This won't be a ground breaking move, but it will at least plant the seeds of a sustainable community here on Sythe.

Thirdly, Guild Wars 2 is going to be a hot subject on youtube, especially since many people haven't gotten the game yet and still want to check it out. Now because of this boat loads of new and existing smaller youtube channels are going to be vying for the chance to become the next big thing. If you do a simple search and find all the channels like these:



You will see that all these channels get no advertising, and they have thousands of views. Now think about it, what if we reached out to them to get some cheap advertising? They are going to think they are hot stuff even for getting a $5, $10, or $15 advertisement for putting into their video. You may be thinking "Who cares so and so only got 8,600 views", well that is 8,600 people who could be directly and consciously viewing an advertisement for sythe.org.

Yes I know Sythe won't pay for any advertising, but I'd think that if any of us can donate $5-$1500 on sythe then we wouldn't mind helping out by paying for a cheap advertisement. This is something we can reach out to the community as a whole for assistance on. I am sure there are many people, such as myself, who would be willing to help out.

 

The best place to advertise is on the botting forums. Great example is when Diablo 3 came out 100s of newbies asked where they could unload there gold. Many people started sharing ownedcore and shortly after it became viral. I know they had some previous attention for other games but I highly doubt that traffic supported there d3 section. So the idea is just to mention sythe as a place to cash in there gold when asked in threads, ect. I paid close attention to the diablo 3 scene and made $1000s.
