Close to the release, and so many people are going to play it. Haven't seen a game so hyped as Gw2 in 7 years since WoW was released.

    Definitely needs its own subforum!

I don't think we should have a GW2 subforum until we see how many of the userbase choose to play it.

Yes, we definitely need to get the jump on this, and not let it flop like we did with Diablo 3. This game is going to have a massive playerbase, and we really need to do our best to draw them in. If we get the jump on the competition, and actively work to draw people in, we can gain a momentum that would help us smoke the other forums/markets.

I know a large majority of my friends are playing GW2 and I've seen a fair bit of excitement over it around the internet, but I personally believe we should wait maybe a month or two after the official release and see how it's going just in the regular 'Other Games' forum. If it's getting a lot of activity, sure create a suggestion then, but for now I think it's fine.

Why? Waiting around accomplishes nothing. If we wait, then all the possible users we could gain from this are just going to find another forum to use. We need to be the very first option so that people will come here. If we wait a month or two nothing is going to happen. Nothing. And besides whats the worst that could happen? If the section is inactive it gets removed, no one is being harmed by it.

Considering the game comes out tomorrow for those who have pre-ordered, I think it's very important that we get a jump on the competition. I implore the staff to implement a GW2 section ASAP.

Please fucking do this.. OwnedCore's probably going to take gw2, like they did D3, and they were amazingly successful with it. Granted, the people on ownedcore knew loads about blizzard related games, but still.

It's not as if we're not allowing members to talk about the game at all - it just doesn't have its own dedicated subsection. I can understand your logic, sure if we do add a subsection in other games for GW2 then people searching for a forum to discuss it, but we can't do that for every new game released can we.

Don't get me wrong I think it'd be more popular than the Diablo subsection, but normally the staff have always waited a little bit to see the game is popular (I.E. When the Minecraft section was implemented) just so they don't end up adding the section and it ending up being a bit of a ghost town a couple of weeks later.

Guild Wars is a MMORPG, a lot of people play it just like D3, deserves a forums/sub-forums.

I'll have to agree with this. I think if we made a subsection for Guild Wars II, it'll be active to some extent, but overall, inactive. And, I think that goes for any other game we have made sections for, as well, like Diablo, LoL, Minecraft, etc. Sythe is already an established forum for RuneScape, that's why many users who play that particular game here. There are already established forums for the other games, and I think a Sythe-like forum for Guild Wars II is more appealing than a section that's barely active. I'm not trying to discourage expanding, but I think we need real advertisement or something of that sort for it to actually work, and I don't think going on RuneScape and using an autotyper to say "come join www.forum.com" will make a huge difference.

That is all speculation, and so is what I am saying, however, nothing harmful can come from trying. We can only speculate about what will happen, but we will never know until we try, and if we don't do something now we won't be able to try. If it is inactive, then it gets removed, no harm done.

I also have some ideas on how GW2 players on sythe can get the section some activity, but we will never have the chance to try if no section is made. No harm can come from trying, and there will never be the chance to succeed if we don't.

Sure, the section can be made. But, you have said that before, specifically for Diablo III. And, how active do you think this subsection could be with no proper advertisement and this being a forum primarily for RuneScape? I wouldn't be surprised if a Guild Wars II section was made and it doesn't have that much activity, and when The Elder Scrolls Online comes out, people will say, "this is different, this can really work." I'm fine if there is a section, if it can be removed based on it's activity level, since it would make the front page look more cluttered. Also, whatever your method is, do you really believe it can make a whole section active without proper advertisement?

Actually to be fair the Diablo section was quite active, and was bringing quite a bit of activity to the market and sythe in general (I am sure other players like n4n0 will attest to that), but ultimately the game tanked, and so the section followed. If the Guild Wars 2 section becomes inactive, it can be removed as easily as it was added, but if it isn't added, nothing will happen, and we will achieve nothing.
