    Optimus - Already been released

Idk if it belongs here or to the cheating section, but since I am talking about a platform and not a bot, figured that it belongs here.

I have heard that optimus has already been released on first of July for field-testing, and that optimus is actually just a platform that will be used to bind several anti-bot systems to one big system - that would be the second bot nuke and perhaps the last one.

A friend of mine told me that based on information J-mods posted on the Pmod's forums, with some instructions for the field-testing: they are activating the anti-bot system in a random world and a random bot-like place in a specific hour, while few pmods will be around for sort of "observations".

I know that all of us think that Jagex are full of shit, but this time I must admit - they really have done something.

Huh and guys DW, my friend got no idea that I am on this site, and doesnt even know it, so chill:) Not my fault that my friend is a pmod l0l:)

I have no faith in Jagex's bot detecting system, if they even have one. Personally I believe they just save up a list of names from reports and then ban them all on the same day to declare a "nuke".

I also have no faith in them, it's not Jagex no more, it's IVP.
But man, this seems really legit. I will come over to his house and ask to see it myself but idk how to ask him to picture this, kinda fishy if I will ask him.
He wont rat on me but I prefer not having a pmod know I am on this site since he knows my RSN.

I just asked for an example for a field test and told me theres going to be one in 1 hr and 28 mins detecting LRC mining bots in world 84 and another test 11:15 AM UK time detecting pure-ess mining bots in world 71 and 36.

Optimus Part 1 = A platform allowing Jagex to build systems off the back of it without seriously affecting gameplay. Installed in May, for a fact.

    Optimus Part 2: [IMG]

So no, it was not released in July. Also, here's a thread that could be related to Optimus: http://www.sythe.org/showthread.php?t=1455514

That thread talks about an Automated Detection System that Jagex has been developing for "at least three months" (Notice 3 months from when Mod Mark said that, was May, also the time that Optimus' Platform was installed) that he says they intend to release before the release of Evolution of Combat.

I'm pretty sure their bot nuke is going to be the action bar, it will mess around with some bots a bit but most will get around it, also most graphics will probably be changed maybe item codes as well.

    ^^ this

it will fuck alot of bots up, not just on the client side but script side also,
all they need to do is constantly change little things.
like the nav bar at the top screwed simba over pretty well for a short time.

But the OP said that this pMod friend of his was told to go to a specific world and watch a specific group of botters get "test-nuked" so that they can, in turn, possibly do this themselves.

The action bar and item codes arent going to do anything to bots, nor were they intended to.

I truthfully think that it IS coming. It WILL hit hard. All we can do is wait and see how hard. You all need to keep in mind that these are college grads, been gaming, in the industry, and programming 3/4ths of their lives, if not more, JUST LIKE MOST OF US. We aren't any smarter than they are, in fact they probably have more people with the knowlege than we do, so I have no idea why half of you are talking their technology and abilities down so much. If they are money hungry, and a growing business, obviously they have resources, and guarenteed these fuckers are about to use every single resource known to them to try and "fix" their "perfect game".

No offense to anyone, it's just getting damn annoying that you all are acting like it won't happen. It's a video game. If someone can hack Playstation Network and never get caught, I'm sure a company can ban every bot on a video game they OWN.

From a gaming perspective it should happen but half the company is owned by investors who would prefer more people bot if they earn more subscriptions. They probably have the ability to stop all or at least most bots but are pushed by their investors not to do so. If you go to their shareholders meetings I'm sure the topic of bots comes up often on runescape and most investors prefer to leave them in game since they are good for revenue.

Their previous bot nuke I believe messed around with codes or something like that which tampered with the code reflection bots used for a long time and forced most to shut down.

If they do a bot nuke it will be for community sake to prove something but the ones they will hit hard will be the f2p bots and maybe a few p2p gold farming bots.

I agree with this, but they haven't been a huge organization totally based on profit and shares for the past ten years, there was a point where bots were shunned, and banned accordingly. Although the Runescape owners have changed, the community has not, and they will, in turn, lose more than they gain by leaving the bots to control the economy rather than the players. It's either make big money and lose players, or make big money and lose players.

Either way they lose money. So they should just let the game return to it's state of happiness that everyone enjoyed. 2005 personally for me.

I was always under the impression that 'Optimus' was supposed to be the code word for their anti-botting system that was to be released gradually over time, with little adjustments to the system hidden in every update.

Up until this point though, bots do not seem to have been affected at all. If anything there is more bots than ever, and they are multiplying at a steady rate. It will be interesting to see what this next nuke has in store and how it might affect the bots this time around.

One thing I have my fingers crossed for though, is that the nuke won't create a world of lag & FPS problems like the last one did. I had problems for like 3 months after the first nuke >_<

This is exactly what Optimus is. The installation of the Platform is May was exactly that, the platform. It allows Jagex to code off the back of it to add anti-bot and anti-cheat methods. They just won't activate these until the system is complete. Even after it's complete, it gives them the ability to add further enhancements to it. J Mods have been quoted saying "it will be a system that is constantly running." Also, considering Mod Mark's statement about their new Automated Detection System (ADS) they've been working on for "at least 3 months," which is exactly how long it's been since the Optimus Platform was installed and Jagex started working on the 2nd part of it, so they could be the same thing. Based on Mod Mark's description of the new ADS, it will be constantly running, and so far a 1% error ratio where it detects a human as a bot, which means it could be even more advanced than we think, and definitely more than anything they have now. Mark said that 1% is way too high in his opinion, cause that's still thousands of legit players banned, so he said they are going to be fine tuning it until that goes down so low that either extremely little amount of real players are affected, or until it is flawless in it's proper detection. But tbh, if thousands of players would be caught being legit, it has got to be a sensitive system, so it will be interesting to see how many bans we see after it's released "sometime before EoC."
