Suggestion: Simba Rank

People are overthinking this way too much.

 

They could scam for anything they aren't limited to buying/selling scripts. Secondly the current "fun" ranks aren't just given out to people just because they know how to program ect. They seem to usually be given to very trusted people who also have a special skill, for example The Black Tux. Last but not least it seems to me this threads purpose is to get yourself the rank.

 

Specific Skill?

What about the PROGRAMMER ranks?
(Which Black Tux has because he can program)



(Surprise! Seems to fit right in doesn't it?)

Then how about we give it out to very trusted people with a specific skill.
Only so called 'trusted' people who are also talented programmers will get it.

We're just debating about it's creation right now, not who will/won't get it, I'm sure the mods/admins will know who deserves to have what ranks and hand them out sparingly.

Fun ranks are just that, fun ranks.

And people mistaking a fun/random rank for a sign of legitimacy and trust is not a very good reason to not make any more ranks. I'd hope most people know better than that.

I could not care less if I had the rank or not.

I already have quite a few vouches, trust, and all of my endeavors at Sythe are going just fine as is. I'm just suggesting a fun rank that would be...fun! We have SCAR one already, why not Simba/SRL etc.?

 

A Simba one would be awesome, I mean, if there's a SCAR one, there should be a Simba one too, right?

 

I was obviously referring to the programmer related fun ranks when I said that. If the admins wanted a simba rank I think they would have one by now Just seems like a waste of time to be debating this when it's out of our control. If they want to make a simba rank they will and they will give it to whomever they want.

 

That's like the common misconception that donor ranks cause more trust. Also, what about the competition rank that is handed out to competition winners? We don't remove all of these ranks.

It doesn't fit in at all, the others are actual languages Color Scripter isn't. Not to mention there are more color bots however you have chosen to favorite SCAR and Simba.

 

We can make ranks for any large bots. Matthew didn't seem to mind as long as there was interest. SCAR was added when it was THE bot (and Sythe has a soft spot in his heart for it).

 

Yeah I know just saying his comparison is invalid.

 

We/the mods/the admins can work out the fine details about it later, the point of the thread is still the same.

Simba/SCAR are the only decent, working, well known, widely used color bots I know of (besides RuneShark? or RuneDream? or some obscure random java one that has gotten nowhere), and SCAR itself is hardly even used anymore.
RiD is another color one, but that one is not scriptable/closed source.

We already pondered PASCAL SCRIPTER, which would 'fit in' better since that's the language, except no one/not many people would relate/know that pascal is related to Simba/SCAR.

So PASCAL SCCIPTER or SIMBA SCRIPTER is another option then.

 

I've changed my tune, I don't care what you want it to be now and I'll support this.

Support. We could even have special scripts just for sythe, competition, etc etc.

Going with what Karl said, what's the worse that could happen? Would be nice to be able to spot a knowledgable scripter and be able to ask them for advice or know that they're advice can be taken as most likely truth.

I was going to say that I don't support this suggestion, since the Simba/Scar forums are pretty much dead, but it doesn't seem like an appropriate thing to say at the time.

 

SCAR/Simba is/are one of the longest lasting bots around. Been around since at least 2003 or earlier and has been impervious to all updates. Been working nonstop since the start!

And if the 2nd nuke works as Jagex days (EpicBot and PowerBot being sued) then once again Simba and SCAR will shine as always and be the only working bots (besides RiD).

As for the lack of activity, almost all cheating talking about any bot (Simba and SCAR included) is done in the Runescape cheating section because it's just a more active board.

As far as most experts can tell, and as the track record has shown Simba and SCAR have been around the longest, and NEVER been broken/down/harshy effected by updates.
