Runescape gambling addiction.

Before free trade, I would play Runescape just the way it was suppose to be played. But ever since the free-trade update I can't stop gambling. I've lost over 200m worth of gps from flowering/irc/ etc etc. I've spent over 50 dollars for gp just so I can gamble it the next day. One day I'm up 40m the next day I'm cleaned. Do you guys ever encounter the same problem I have? How can I possibly quit gambling without quitting Runescape?

 

If you want to keep playing RS, you will need to be able to control yourself....

I'm the same way. Gambling on Runescape is the only part I find fun anymore, but that's okay with me. I get on every once in a while, gamble away all my millions and then log off. I'll come back a few weeks later and purchase some gold that I'll blow within a few hours again. It's a vicious cycle but it's so addicting. My advice to you would be to set a goal for yourself and every time you hit a goal you can go off and gamble X amount of money

 

I see. But don't you feel shitty when you lose it all? Does a thought ever occur that maybe you should quit gambling? >_<

 

I don't feel shitty when I gamble anymore, as RSGP bursts out of my asshole. However, I would recommend possibly purchasing some items that degrade, which will keep you from repairing it, etc, just to sell it. You know, spend the money on stuff before you have a chance to gamble it away.

 

Funny, because I did the exact same thing you are telling me. But in the end I sold all the items just to gamble it.

 

It's same as gambling irl, Just don't waste your money and control how you gamble.

 

I've lost around 2b gambling, all in all I just quit runescape, although I plan on returning when EOC comes out and might possibly be starting my own bot farm.

 

i totally agree with you, fact of the matter is if you have no self control whether you buy degradeable items or the gear youve always wanted you'll eventually sell it and stake my goal was a phat i ended up with 2 red phats but still ended up staking because i wanted that blue. i made a thread a long time ago about this, still have my gambling addiction just lost 200m at duel arena actually. its sad cuz its the only thing i find fun in Runescape anymore buying GP staking it and hoping i get high up there again (highest ive got was around 2.5b) i have no advice to stop besides quitting the game all around or pre occupy yourself training a skill or pvming, but you'll always go back to staking ive blown way more money on buying rsgp then you want to know. its just such an adrenaline rush winning a load of gp and doubling your cash within a minute or more even though its just pixels. best of luck too you though.

 

WOW! I don't know what to say anymore. I need to quit gambling and find something else to do on runescape that is enjoyable. Thanks for your input & sharing your experience.

 

I've lost a couple hundred mil on gambling before, but I've also made a good 800 mil from it.

 

i know what you mean, i'v been trying for 300 donor, and i've made about 100m in the last week but each time i got gold i went and diced/flowerd it and i feel retarted now, but i'm done because my donation is more important than having 50/50 odds at doubling my profit.

 

Gambling for me has never taken control of me, I used to play poker quite often but only rarely was down.. I was quite a good player but only ever broke even in total win/loss. I then tried roulette and realised how much of a con it is.

But as for in runescape I have won big and lost lots, I decided to prevent myself from doing so. It just takes will power to stop something like that. You can put a daft 1m in the pot and 5 mins later you're throwing 200m in there. I can't really understand anyone getting addicted to something that causes them no pain to stop. For instance, Heroin if you're addicted to that.. The comedown is so painful that you take more to prevent it. That sort of addiction I can understand. But as for gambling I cannot. I've seen a friend in real life loose his house, wife, kids and job through gambling. I would hate to be in that situation but I feel no sympathy towards him as I only see it as selfish.

 

they have several gambling addict books and i would suggest picking one of thos up evey tho this is runescape its still a gambling addiction once u learn how to get pass ur addiction avoid putting yourself in that situation its like ur driving pass casinos u just need to avoid them

 

Use your willpower to stop, you should probably stop playing runescape if it is impacting your life negatively.

 

Just quit whilst you're ahead, or in your case quit before you clean your bank IRL.

Just play the game for what it's supposed to be like you said you used to do. Just because free trade came back doesn't mean you have to go all crazy and gamble and spend your hard earned cash =) Just play to enjoy the game, and if all you enjoy is gambling then maybe you should quit for a while.

 

If Runescape gambling is really that addictive, just quit playing Runescape. Playing RS is not a very healthy habit to have anyway, and to be honest the association with and availability of more flower games is too tempting. Even if you play legit for a few weeks, you'll always turn back to gambling.

 

I did the same thing, had 50m, lost it, bought 50m, lost it, bought 50m, got down to 5m, and from the time of 11:00 pm - 6:00 AM (I even took adderall to stay up) I legitimately went from 5m cash stack to 1.1B cash + a 500m mask set (that's a lowballed price too)

Best gambling night of my life, the guy who I won all of that from (yes, I damn near cleaned him) wanted to do 1.6b for his blue phat and I finally just said no.

When you finally hit the jack pot, it'll break the addiction.

 

Oh wow nice! It's nice to hear stories from people who actually win, and then stop. Unfortunately some people just carry on even when they win, and end up losing it all :/

It's quite sad to see that people only play RuneScape to gamble... because it's not what the game's about at all... But I guess it's up to the individual
