Elderly People for Business

So this is a question that I was asked during a university interview.
How could we use elderly people (our grand-folks) for internet business?
This is something that I found complicated, since they have less grey matter (involved with memory,) which is a reason why their memories are bot so good.

What can these people do to make money in an internet related business that will benefit both us and them? Please discuss.

There are no dumb answers, pleas just share anything that comes to mind.

 

I guess simple jobs like being behind a counter or small helper jobs here and there.. just anything that doesn't require excessive manual labor or critical thinking.

 

I would say something like greeting people at the store, cashier, maybe even door to door marketing. I say this because a lot of people have a soft spot for old people, especially if the old person is kind and gentle. This friendly attitude combined with the effect that the elderly have on people could bring more sales or even get people to buy things that they wouldn't otherwise. It might sound absurd or sad even but that's business for you.

 

elderly people can do whatever the other workers would be doing.

you can open a knitting company and use little old ladies to make clothing, aside from that you can't use them for the same tasks you could the averge user due to physical inabilities.

 

Advertisement? They would know a lot of people...

 

My bad guys, I mean to say that it was for internet-related online businesses, not offline

 

Saying that older people have memories is a broad generalization. Some have bad memories but a lot do not and are very capable mentally. What you could do is teach them how to add products to auction sites such as ebay. If you own a store and have a fairly standard product description and such all you would have to do is have them add it. Pay commission based or something. They're a lot of things they can do. You could have them re-hash SEO articles for an SEO blog and get traffic. I don't see how they could do anything less than someone our age, unless of course that person does have a failing memory and in that case they shouldn't be working.

 

Sure, many old people may have good memory. But the number if those who do are relatively small in number compared to the many elderly citizens we have right now.
this question that I was asked was under the question that elder people have memory problems, but i guess that it's my fault that I didn't make that clear in the first place.

Elderly people do have one thing that most people under 60 don't have/don't have a lot of - Wisdom and experience.

Also for an online business, they could be effective regarding customer support? I.E. Live chats, reviewing and returning emails. I mean I understand that some of them aren't that techno-savvy, but I'm sure they can do it.
