They believe it's VERY unlikely to get banned for sharing accounts (which, I guess it is) where it can be more likely to get banned for botting.

The reason it's so unlikely to get banned for sharing accounts can vary.

(You could say you were on vacation and went on Runescape while you were there, etc.)

because people have a line and some people draw the line at botting.

Yeah some people don't like the idea of botting and breaking the rules (why they're here IDK, lol) nah just kidding, some people don't like to bot.

And yes. I guess their is a sense of fear that their account will be banned. Account sharing won't get you banned, as wub to craft said you can just blag your way to not getting banned by saying you were at a friends house, or away on holiday etc. I don't like botting on my main, and I never do anymore. I only bot on new accounts...

The risk of getting banned from botting and account sharing are on two ends of the scale. Hopefully shed some light on to why people would rather people do services by hand instead of botting :)

    Take care.

the chances of them noticing an ip change is minimal + you can just say you were hacked or something so the ban rate is tiny.

botting on the other hand, if its an account you care about, can be risky. especially if someone is botting your account lets be honest they don't really put any care into it as long as they're getting payed.

Assuming the person doing it by hand isn't an idiot, doing by hand is 100% safe. I have done massive ip changes on over 300 accounts and when they do eventually notice the ip change (canada to US) all they do is lock the account as a "precaution". Then all you have to do is go through the unlock process which isn't hard.

It's harder to prove that you're account sharing then you're botting.

You have mass amount of hours on one account suddenly, you jump from 3 hours a day to 18 hours a day for weeks on in and they can tell you're obviously botting, sharing accounts you can claim you're hacked or that you've moved, easier to defend yourself.

Account sharing is no longer against the rules. Sometime around winter this year, a JMod made an official announcement that was basically saying it is your own fault if you account share and end up getting scammed.

^, they told everybody that the reason it "was" against the rules is because they didn't want you to I guess complain or whatever if you got scammed, but now they made it so if you do account share, your doing it at your own risk and they're not at fault whatsoever.

Before the new 'chat report abuse system' you couldn't report somebody for account sharing. Maybe they feel that macroing is far worse then account sharing.

Yep, this is exactly what it is. Botting is against the rules, account sharing isn't. Account sharing also means a person may play the game (in terms of months and years) for a lot longer which is what Jagex wants (your money).

As well as everything other people said, when you get a botted service you have no idea what bot they are using and or script. They could be using a HORRIBLE script with really high banrates. When you have someone who is honest and does services by hand you usually end up paying a bit more but you have the comfort in the fact that it is 100% safe (given they arent stupid) and the cost is justified. Its just more safe, also alot of people find it somewhat immoral using bots .

Really? I always thought it had to do with getting an unfair advantage by having multiple on the account throughout the day. mind semi blown

I sure didn't know that, but I can understand why they can't be bothered enforcing that rule now. Thanks for the update, KerokeroCola.

Yeah i'm pretty sure that getting banned for "Sharing accounts" is WAYYYY less likely to happen than a ban for botting...by far. Can you even still report someone for sharing accounts? or do they like encourage it now?

This is a blackmarket site not a botting site. You come here for the blackmarket things. Like other people training your account or buying and selling gold. Ya know blackmarket type things. Why are you here for botting? What bot would you be here for every bot has their own sites.

OT: People dont want someone using a bot on their account for many reasons. Maybe it is a clean account and they want it to stay that way. I know I keep a clean account away from my botted ones as I have something to fallback on incase of a ban or something. Maybe people dont want a trainer to use some kind of fail script that is going to keep him stuck in a house upstairs standing there for 4 hours. Or maybe beacuse people choose fast trainers and the way you get things done faster is by botting an account 24/7 and they dont want the account on for that long.

Either way why would you care what someones preference is for how they want things done on their own account.

I'm sorry, didn't you read the "only joking" part... that generally means I was joking. I can be rude too like you.

Also, why do you think there's a "RuneScape cheating" section... And I'm here to buy and sell accounts, you know the black market things you were talking about? Also, if you read the "and breaking the rules" part.. that IS real world trading, and account sharing. Don't read into information too much pretending you're someone challenging what I say.

Back to the topic: Most people seem to think too that people would rather run the risk of account sharing, rather than botting as there's less of a chance of being banned. Which is understandable :)

I heard lilyuffie88 and all of the top players back in the day were actually 10-15 people playing a couple of hours a day each. I'm sure they monitered their accounts but its probably not that big of a deal for them.
