Please add this rule to the list

Perhaps it is a good idea to add this rule to the official rules, I can't see why not. It's not super-obvious, especially not in the spam forum. Can't say I haven't been tempted to do so (here if you want to know: http://sythe.org/showthread.php?p=11379404) and I would have been kind of upset if I did and got banned for an unwritten rule. Good thing They be trippin posted it, but it's not impossible that other users will be less lucky.

There is a rule that you can't post photograph's of other users without their consent but

• This is about photographs users didn't post themselves
• This is in a different category (1 month bans > 1 week bans) so is obviously not the same

I thought defacing a photo was in the rules under 1 week ban, I know I've seen it somewhere, I remember getting banned for it.

It is a rule in the Personal Support section and under the Faces of Sythe section I believe. It was my understanding that posting a picture in the spam forum was implied consent considering the nature of the spam forum.

 

I believe members have been banned before for defacing photos or posting photos of others publicly before. Not sure how many people actually thoroughly read through the rules but it gets rid of the classic excuse of "But it wasn't in the rules!"

Any word on this? It would be good to have this as an official rule instead of being hidden on the Face of Sythe thread.

 

Eh, I'd rather not have this as it would be nice to like mess with someones image every once in a while if they know but.

 

I understand, but we're not here to discuss whether this should be a rule or not. This is just a request for it to be added to the official rules to avoid confusion.

 

If you have permission to and you can prove you were given permission it's a totally different case. But some people can get quite upset if there images are defaced when they already feel bad about there image.

If you want the rule changed, you can probably create another thread and suggest it, but I agree with it.

 

I thought this was already against the rules, I remember someone got banned for a week or so for defacing someones picture in the spam forum. I'd support adding the rule to the official thread, though.

 

okay... what if i just cropped an overly large photo to show it side by side in comparison to another picture, somebody in the spam forum looks like liam mcdoyle from its always sunny in philadelphia and im dying to show people. I in no way edited the photo, just cropped the face from an absurdly large photo. The photo is in the thread i would be posting it in so it wouldnt be anything new or unseen but the side by side part reallly adds to the effect im wanting aahha

 

That's getting a bit technical. The rule we're talking about is deliberately defacing an image in order to upset or make another member look bad.

 

It is against the rules, it's just not in the list (ironically)
