Will gold price go up/down in the future?

I have 4B I've been meaning to sell for a long time , now found out GP has dropped a good 20-30c per Mill due to them assholes finding out that dupe.
Due to EOC on the way, also has been a ban of top gamblers that've been RWTing, Is it most likely going to up/down in the near future?

GP prices are at an all time (or a VERY long time low).
Prices were lower just a few weeks/month go at the peak of the dupe, but after Jagex banned a lot of the dupers, and just recently banned some big Dicers who RWTed GP prices have been going up steadily.

My prediction is that prices will slowly keep rising for a while back up to a stable 50-60c/M

Due to the EoC at the begining or a few days or a week before it rsgp prices will drop. Why? a lot of people are quitting and they're going to sell there rsgp/accounts. Atfer the EoC rsgp prices will go back up and hopefully they rise to 1$/mil+

Yeah i believe it should hopefully gradually rise in the upcoming weeks due to the banning of major RWT'ers.

That dupe bug was really a pain in the arse though, so badly damaged the price of gp.

 

I'd assume that in the somewhat near future, they'll rise. I remember whenever gold sites were able to sell RSGP at $8 a million. Doubt I'll ever see them over a dollar again, but a little higher I'd guess at least.

With the EoC coming we have a few things to consider Alot of people are talking about quitting due to the eoc update making rsgp demand go down significantly (that is if any of these fuckers actually quit) if demand goes down price goes down but i dont have much faith in these people actually quitting. Also with the eoc bots are ofcourse going to be hindered for quite sometime possibly driving gp prices UP . Another thing to consider is the release of the new armors and what not (bandos especially) and the fact that alot of people are going to want to try new/different pk gear in the eoc, again driving the price of gp UP. All the newer stuff and stuff affected by the eoc in a positive way is going to have an increase in price as all new stuff does. All in all i would say gp's going to go up, way up. Though it is a risky time to be making these judgments with such a big update coming, just weigh the different factors yourself and make your own judgment. soz for wall of text

 

What was the dupe?

 

Considering GP is rock bottom right now from recent events I'd say it's bound to go up, the question is when.

 

Yeah, if stakers and dice clan rwters get banned thats the majority of reseller's suppliers. There arent many REAL bot goldfarmers atm in my opinion

The answer is that it probably won't go up very significantly for a while or ever, there simply isn't a reliable gold sink in the game to stop inflation from taking over. Secondly there are lots of large scale gold implementations such as the squeal of fortune which can add massive amounts of gold into the system.

Most games especially long term ones experience this inflation as players move the gold sideways or into the system and rarely out of it. Diablo 3 is a perfect example of runaway inflation. Without the duplicating glitch the amount of money that was being generated in the game GROSSLY exceeded the amount of gold that was being taken out and as a result the price of gold went from about $20 / mil to $7 in a week, which took Runescape YEARS to have the same inflation. Items have a specific value in the real world which is why as gold prices fluctuate so do the prices of Phats ect.

The WoW system is actually pretty significant in that they have an extremely slow inflation rate. They have a pretty stable economy due to the fact that there are many many gold sinks and some of them are necessary for all activities in the game, which means a significant amount of gold is being drained from the system and it then maintains a specific value.

Its a very difficult balance because if you put too many sinks in and the game starts to run negative (more gold going out than coming in) than it will essentially cut off the game from the poor and will destroy the game very quickly.

 

Once bot nuke arrives gp prices will steadily start going up again...

 

The mass bans of extremely wealthy RWT mules can count as a gold sink. If you keep an eye on the homepage, you often can often read about famous dicers/stakers who get banned and you can be sure they had more than just 1B on their accounts.

The dupe won't have a very large impact since most abusers have been banned, it was panic of gold buyers rather than a large amount of gold added to the game that made this gp prices drop possible.

I believe RSGP prices will slowly rise because as a matter of fact bots ARE being defeated. Not only are so many botters banned daily and are the best bots being sued, there are not so much profitable bots left. You can no longer bot WC for a living, even if you have 20 bots running at the same time.

 

I agree somewhat banning well known cheaters does help, but for everyone one you strike down 3 will take their spot. The nature of the beast of runescape is that people are willing to cheat/scam/steal to make money off of it. The amount of gold in the game is infinitely growing and at a faster rate the more players start playing this game and since things like the GE/pking ECT just move money sideways instead of in or out you end up with gold being more and more readily available and thus buying it becomes cheaper.

 

At the moment I think there are more players quitting than joining, so I believe it's the other way around. The only ways to bring BIG amounts of money into the game are some bosses that drop expensive items. (don't know names, haven't played for a while) I mean the prices of skilling are trash and GWD is barely profitable. Especially with more players leaving than joining (perhaps debatable) and accounts getting banned I don't think a great amount of GP is getting added to the game, if any at all.

Think about it, if a player with 10B gets banned, that's a huge gp loss. That's about 100M yew logs gathered/1K Bandos Chestplate dropped in GWD. For just one wealthy player banned.

 

Yeah a new boss with some incredible items will definitely cause a cash sink towards the players that play legit .
Either way Jagex said something in their recent BTS Video that the next BTS Video will be about God Wars, so maybe we're on the right track!

 

In some cases accounts with money get banned but if once a year 1T is removed from game and 30B is created every day, then you see that RS has more GP every day.

The GP price should go down in the long term.

In the short term it is difficult to say. Jagex have told us that next bonus xp weekends will be different and that people investing in the resources and selling at bonus xp weekend will have no impact on the next one. EOC is coming soon, spirit shields will become a lot cheaper.

 

Gold prices fluctuate A HELL OF A LOT ( <----- yeah that much). So it's really hard to say whether or not they will drop or rise. I suspect they will stay the same, or with little change because as long as they don't bring out a new update that stops trading (pfft we all know that failed in the past) then there will ALWAYS be a need for RWT, gold.

We will find out soon I guess.

As gold becomes easier and easier to obtain, the prices get lower and lower. A bot nuke may cause a slight increase but I'm sure that colour bots will still continue to work and someway or somehow bot makers will manage to create or innovate their bots to get them working well again.
