Search function

This isn't really a 'suggestion' as it's already implemented... But I was wondering whether or not the feature will ever be working again?

It takes a long time searching through the forums for something you're particularly after and that's why the search function was implemented. But whenever I click search I get this screen:

I agree, it would be absolutely fantastic to have the search function back! Unfortunately at the moment it isn't really a possibility, because Sythe feels its one of the things which cause the biggest impact to the server. It's a pretty tough sacrifice and I hope the server issues can be fixed soon, but until they are, no search function

Apparently there is a possibility that after the forums are updated to vB4 the function may come back, but this isn't confirmed and we don't know how long it'll be until the forums are updated.

 

Ah cool that's good to hear then I guess... At least there's a possibility of it coming back soon Thanks for the little explanation as I really wasn't sure as to why It was disabled in the first place!

 

It was disabled due to database issues and it slowing down the site. There is a good chance it will come back after VB4, but at this point only Richard (Sythe) can bring it back. For now, you can try Google to find what you want, plus you can still search users' posts and threads they've made.

 

Advanced search still works, so I suggest you use that instead . It is better for finding stuff anyway.

 

Sadly, it won't come back until at least vb4.
