    Is this the end?

I've been looking around and there's talk that when EoC comes and the 'long awaited' bot nuke bot clients will not return...

I was wondering if anybody has some information to back this up? I was looking into "RSBuddy" earlier on, and here's an interesting message the developers said...

    ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

    Quote:
Why have you put an end to RSBuddy’s bot client?

Bots have changed the gameplay of RuneScape. With the use of bots becoming increasingly widespread since the introduction of free trade, and the recent announcements by Jagex, it is clear that bots have become flagrantly detrimental to the game. If you’re like any of us and you enjoy playing RuneScape, you’ll have noticed that bots are anti-social and make the time you spend playing feel diminished in worth. At the same time, bots are abused heavily by gold farmers to ruin the game to a significant extent only for their profit. We hope to assist in the selfless movement by Jagex in fixing this problem and hope that you will join us in playing the game with real people.

To some this will seem like a quick change of heart. See my interview with Ability44 on YouTube.

Is this the end of all botting in RuneScape?

Yes. I am confident that you will not see the return of major bot clients to RuneScape, and that the small number of simple 'auto-clickers' and 'screen-scrapers' that remain will be dealt with very soon.

Another bot site says they’ll be up soon; why shouldn’t we believe them?

The other bot sites out there may claim for a bit longer that they will fix their bots within the next few days or weeks: Had I decided to release RSBuddy 1.5 to the public, it would have required another overhaul just a few days later. The fact that no other botting sites had any update ready by the end of last week shows how exceedingly far behind they are. Don’t hold your breath.

I know another huge MMO that hasn’t dealt with bots; what makes RuneScape different?

Removing bots from the game requires both commercial investment and the time of talented developers with other updates to work on. I haven’t seen any other company willing to take that hit; it requires a huge amount of care for the game we’re here for.

I used RSBuddy on my account, am I going to be banned?

The information we have on customers and users is private and won’t be used to ban any accounts. We hope that you have come to understand why botting has no place in the game and take this opportunity to become part of the RuneScape community.

I purchased a premium script, am I entitled to a refund?

If you purchased a script within 7 days of the update last Tuesday we will happily refund your purchase on request. Any purchases made before this time are not eligible for refunds. Information on subscription changes is available on our subscriptions page.

This is the end for bots, not for you!

It’s not only you that doesn’t have a bot client to use. RuneScape is a social game for humans to play. If you feel that there was anything botting did to keep you interested in the game, please join the discussion of what updates would remove any need for them.
    ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

So will this be the end for ALL bot scripts like Powerbot and other various clients? Or will they just return once they find a way to work around the updates?

Leave some of your thoughts or evidence to this topic if you wish below =)

    Thanks for reading,
    -Ash

    Is this the end?

That is a very old post from a long time ago on rsbuddy when the first bot nuke came out.

@OP Why reported as spam, why so angry? He's just poinint out the fact that that statment is quite old and outdated, and much of the information in it (now that we are in the future) is false/wrong. It was nice of him to point out that it was a very old statement to help put things into perspective more. His post is not spam at all.

As I've said in other threads

And that statement is very old. Since then many injection/reflection bots HAVE returned (RSBot, EpicBot, etc) and are running great and very popular!

That statement is more like a 'we give up' / 'we are in legal trouble' kind of statement. Lots of bots have returned since the first nuke just fine, and bottling is very strong right now.

EoC if anything will just ruin some combat related bots (if all else remains the same), and the Nuke will break Injection/Reflection bots, maybe temporarily, maybe for about 3 months like last time, maybe for whoever. Like I said no one can know until it happens, and all we can do is speculate since we have very little/no information.

    Great response! Thanks =)

I was a little in the dark about the past of bots and what happened previously, so thanks for telling me that. I hope they return, I'd be more than happy to have to wait 3 months if that's the case.

Ummmmm no need to rage so hard at him? Just pointing out this already happened for others who dont know, which proves the question YOU asked is already ANSWERED.

OT (somewhat): This isn't the end of anything. If anything history will repeat itself with this second nuke. The fact of the matter is even if they get Injection down for awhile there's always simba/scar. And im sure if major botting sites realize its impossible for injection/reflection they will make a/an "user" friendly color bot.

What are you talking about? I didn't ask a direct question expecting one answer back, I'm asking for people opinions. And the quoted message I originally posted was posted on another forum, and it wasn't a question.

His post was irrelevant in my eyes to my thread and therefore is Spam.
I'm not here to argue... I'm here to gather peoples thoughts and opinions on what will happen.

I don't know where you're getting that I'm 'Raging so hard' I just said I reported it as spam... which I think it was, if a Moderator doesn't think it's spam then he won't get an infraction, simples :)

As long as there is money to be made botting/selling gold then Jagex I doubt will ever be able to stop it completely. Yes as seen by their first bot nuke they can delay it, but for it ever to be gone, in my opinion no.

Basically this, I think it will get curbed hard, but it's pretty impossible to have a completely legitimate game and market when your a multi-million player browser-based MMO.

Well, that "fucking retard" you are referring to, now works at Jagex. So he must possess valuable knowledge to an extent to now work for the company he used to abuse and exploit, for them to offer him a position without the traditional work experience and qualifications.

    Think before you post.

That, or they just wanted to remove a very large threat from the cheating community.

Think about it, by hiring him they:

    1. Remove the massive botting threat of RSBuddy
    2. Make him sign work contracts that prevent him from legally making bots again

This is quite old, and I think a lot of the things stated in that release were false anyways, or empty threats. It has been ages since the first bot nuke and since Jacmob switched over to Jagex, and bots are still abundant as ever in-game.

There have been talks about another bot nuke coming up, possibly to go hand in hand or in quick succession with the EoC. I believe that at some point they will probably release another update that kills bots, or drop another nuke, but just like the first one I doubt it will last for long.

I honestly don't ever see bots being completely eradicated from the game, although that would be nice.

But with that he is an employee of theirs. Meaning he is getting paid by them. And a lot of the rsbuddy botters bought Runescape membership. So they are losing the membership money (Unless most have gone to power bot, which in that case your theory would be logical) and they also have to give him a wage.

At op, I don't think bots will have an end. It's just a cycle. Bot nuke > Temporary downtime > Fix. Etc, etc.

jacmob didn't want any legal actions with jagex, so i think he had to post it like this (now he's working for jagex)
if just eoc is coming, the bots will be fixxed quickly, but we don't know anything about the coming bot nuke, what it will change etc.
    we have to wait
