Ability To Gain PC In Reports

Hello,

I believe we should be able to receive post count, on the reports we make, considering you infract for non-proper use, what would be wrong with gaining post count, for helping to clean out the forum?

Any idea's/thoughts?


People have stated that it would leave to spam reports. If you check threw rules, it is against the rules. Thus; you will be warned/infracted upon the report.

FACT:
- You can't spam reports...
- This will enforce newcomers with rules, so they don't do it again.
- This will clean up the forum spam.
- Encouraging newcomers to fill out spam reports to help get there post count up to a member, or active member helps them become trusted.
- What better way to encourage people to fill out reports, other then post count?

I heard that when FireZ gets 50,000 posts, the beginning of the apocalypse will come. This is just going to help him.

On a serious note, there's really no point. Basically, it would encourage post-whores to be wannabe-mods. And that, my friend, next to hard shell tacos is one of the worst things that exists.

 

I think this is a rather odd but may be good, as long as the reports were legit reports not just reports to get your "post count" or maybe just track a "report count" and idk have it count towards something?

Correct, making "legit reports" help out community, and clean up forums. However making spam reports, only leed you to an infraction, thus, not a lot can spam forums..unless they plan on getting 5 posts = ban....


And what do you mean count towards something. Like an achievment/based kind of thing??

The way I see it, is that post made no sense, you think that reporting is useless, yet it cleans forums and enforces rules among newcomers so they don't make mistakes, as well as you think striving for exelence on sythe is a bad thing?:l

encouraging people to make reports against spam, is better for the forum, then the 10 people that do it anyways...

You guys must think of the full picture when reffering to this, it's not just about gaining something for your work...

 

No support, I've reported my fair share of posts and honestly don't care that my post count doesn't go up. There shouldn't be a reward, do it for the community.

 

And what does post count get you? Nothing.
Post count should come from interacting with the community, not moderating it.

Post count can give you trust, would you rather trust a legend, or a newcomer? lol'd...

Post count comes from Posting on the forums (derp), but it's removed from area's like spam forum, or threads that don't gain anything. You gain posts for selling, buying, and replying, so why not gain for helping forums?

 

The fact is - why should doing the right need an incentive. If you see spam, a pointless post, or an idiotic one (in the SFA section), then you report it.
Also, in what way is postcount bonus an incentive? You have to understand that the only people who care about it are those who want to feel accepted within the community. They feel that a higher postcount is a byproduct of increased activity, but honestly, to quote an old cliché, quality over quantity. If you have made an active contribution with good posts, that enhance a thread then you are far more likely to be accepted, than if you're a newfag trying to troll in the spam forum.

 

I'm pretty sure it was originally removed because the mod who handled it also got post count for posting, something like "thanks" or "......" was a free post count for a mod which resulted in mods being able to get around 30-40 posts every 5 minutes because there is no 30 second timer either for a mod. I don't believe there's a way to make it so only the reporter gets the post count and not the mod who handles it. If you look at most of the older mods post counts you will notice during their time as staff they gained a substantial amount of posts compared to current mods.

 

I'd rather trust a newcomer with 100+ legitimate vouches, than a legend with only a couple. PC has nothing to do with trust; it just gets you status. Just sayin'

 

No support, really. It's doing well for the site but post count is a representation of how active you are in forum discussion. Also, we wouldn't want the mods to have insane amounts of Post Count.

 

No support, Getting screwed over should be the incentive you need to report a user and not only for personal reasons, but to eliminate a chance of someone else going through what you did. Getting like a +5 post count really wouldn't get more people to report people.

It is being "active" in the community, but then you get mods with like 100 posts a day going on.

 

I'd support that, but it would unfairly increase mod post count compared to non-staff community members. Hence I do not support.

 

No support, we use to have this a long time ago and it didn't do anything but cause spam to spam reports.

That and people would spam reports just to get post count.
