in how many minutes can you solve a rubiks cube?

I can't do a rubik's cube. I know that they are quite easy if you practice, as I just watched 2 of my younger brothers learn how to do them within seconds from scratch in about a week or so, after writing down different algorithms and practicing them.

Using the most common algorithm (Selected Face, Face + Middle Row, Bottom Plus, Completion) I probably average around a minute and a half with a slick cube, I think the fastest I've ever done it was around a minute. Roughly 150-180 turns to complete.

Using the newer algorithm I picked up during off-time at work (2x2, 2x3, Completion) I average around 45 seconds and have completed it as fast as 20-25 seconds. About ~70-90 turns to complete.

One of the kids I taught it to a couple years back taught himself a super complicated algorithm I couldn't quite wrap my head around (at least during one sitting, and I'm not an avid cuber) and he consistently finishes within 30 seconds. He's ridiculously smart though, matriculating to an Ivy League next year for sure lol.

 

I've never found the time to watch tutorials and finally solve that dang cube.

 

Around a minute. I use to know how to do the 4x4, but forgot

 

I used to solve these all the time a few years back. I used the "nooby" algorithm method (not what the pros use that can make them solve the cubes insanely fast in a few seconds), so my record was always hovering around the 1 minute mark.

 

Like 6,000 minutes. I'm terrible at these things! Still haven't been able to complete one without taking off the stickers.

 

Lol, once you've memorized the algorithms it's simple as just applying them. I watched tutorial videos on it for about 2 days, then could solve it, my worst time took like 2 hours during the tutorials now it's no problem.

 

Anyone know what "pro's" do it in? If there's a such thing, LOL.

 

Within 10 seconds, but the algorithms they use are absolutely ridiculous. Not to mention they have flaming fingers and extremely slick cubes.

I started trying when this thread was started and still haven't solved.

 

I can't solve one. I've always tried but always get bored after trying for too long.

Never under 3 minutes. In highschool, this asian kid taught me. One side first, then blah, blah.

Now I can't remember it all, get 5 sides, than blank

 

for me i sit and try for about twenty minutes i get pissed off and throw it at a wall...

 

Last time i've tried this was about 4 hours, lol. Tried it when i was sick.

 

I've only finished one once before, and that was following a Youtube video. Took me over an hour with a lot of frustration. I do have friends who know who to do the regular 4x4 ones in literally a matter of seconds. They've got some crazy cubes too that are 6x6 and some even bigger :S
