Or do we humans just perceive it as cruel..the animals are after all just being themselves

    Is nature cruel?

Its hard to say because every bodies perspective of what is deemed "cruel" is effectively an infinite variation. What some people see as just mere survival and how it is, others see as incredibly and unreasonably cruel and unjustified.

It was quite hard to watch the video, just seeing it moaning as its slowly being eaten and dying, not particularly nice to say the least.

Nature's no crueler than we are. We slaughter masses of cows, pigs, chickens, fish, and whatever else each year. We just do it behind the scenes.

    Is nature cruel?

That video is highly, highly disturbing.

Its good that it sheds light on what really happens, but it'll never change anything. World is too over-populated to have more moral living conditions for animals, everything is pushed to the limit in terms of productivity and effectiveness, which unfortunately for animals, is incredibly harsh.

    Is nature cruel?

Its gruesome what people do behind the scenes, as for he OP - its what animals do to survive, and it has been that way before we came on this earth.

Am I the only one who was hoping that father elephant would come and beat the shit out of these lions?

EDIT: and that is cruel and can't be compared to the slaughtering of pigs f.e. if done professional. These pigs don't suffer or fear. How do you think this poor baby felt?

Key word being "IF" done professionally. Lots of the time it isn't. There are plenty of slaughter houses where cows throat's are cut with old, rusty blades. They slip and fall over in their own blood, struggling for several minutes before finally dying.

    There's nothing professional about that.

True, people think they are just '' animals '' and that they don't think on their own nor have pain, we should treat them with bigger respect - They where here before people, and we should if nothing let them live.

Surely slaughtering the animals professionally costs more, meaning lower profit margins. So what it really comes down to, is money. I guess if we are willing to pay extra for those eggs that are free ranged, and other animal friendly(friendlier) products, then you can rest assured that you are not contributing to this kind of cruelty.

Both videos were pretty shocking. It's pretty surprising to see the things that we don't get to see everyday.

    Is nature cruel?

Nature is unbiased and indiscriminate, so I would say that nature isn't really cruel because there's no morality in the equation. Nature is intense and often violent though.
